FUNCTION: Positions primary focus may be in the areas of computer operations, user and desktop support (hardware and software), help desk, and data management. Performs a variety of moderately complex information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services. Monitors, operates, or coordinates and assists others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals to achieve desired results. Utilizes computer equipment, software and diagnostic tools to perform a broad range of technology assistance, report processing, equipment maintenance, and repair and computer operations assignments. Requires minimum supervision and may act as lead when the need arises. Updates supervisor on status of projects or technical issues. Exercises judgement and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly and determines when to refer problems to the supervisor or next level of support. May provide important information to staff, faculty, or public on established policed and procedure, or services provided. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Aids in the use of personal computer hardware, software, and specialized server technology or operates a multi-platform computer environment or monitors the process scheduling, execution, and successful completion of scheduled jobs
  2. Set ups and configures desktop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning security level
  3. Installs software and installs and repairs hardware and peripherals
  4. Maintains workflow for stores as needed and on call basis while stores are open
  5. Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, implements corrective action procedures within prescribed guidelines and/or escalates to other technical resources as appropriate
  6. Maintains computer workstations, registers, servers, handheld devices, and networking equipment
  7. Administers and maintains user accounts for computer access, software access, and email accounts
  8. Produces accurate and timely reports on schedule and as requested
  9. Correctly and efficiently aids in input of overflow buyer orders as needed
  10. Provides basic troubleshooting, repair and maintenance for computer equipment (e.g. microcomputers, disk drives, and laser printers) and may assist with testing personal computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose, hardware versus software problems 
  11. Acts as a technology liaison for consistent operations of registers by communicating resolving, and/or initiating the resolutions of problems and concerns
  12. Aid with after hours and weekend store continuity through superior communications with IT team
  13. Ensures a positive communication flow between IT department, stores, warehouse, and head office
  14. Contributes to unit goals by accomplishing related duties as required
  15. Follows directions and completes tasks in an efficient and accurate manner when instructed accordingly

THIS IS A SALARIED POSITION AND IS NOT LIMITED TO A 40-HOUR WORK WEEK.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

HIGH SCHOOL DEGREE REQUIRED 

EDUCATION: BACHELOR’S OR ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE IS PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED).

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: THE ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY AND A CAPACITY FOR NUMERICALLY ANALYZING DETAILED INFORMATION ARE ESSENTIAL. GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS, SENSE OF URGENCY, TRUSTWORTHY AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE. A POSITIVE ATTITUDE IS REQUIRED IN ALL DEALINGS WITHIN THE COMPANY.

AT CRITICAL TIMES, THIS JOB, AS ALL SALARIED JOBS. WILL REQUIRE WORKING PAST A 40 HOUR WORK WEEK. IF ELIGIBLE FOR THREE WEEKS VACATION, TWO WEEKS MUST BE TAKEN AT ONE TIME. REMAINING VACATION DAYS WILL BE TAKEN ACCORDING TO COMPANY POLICY. ANY EXCEPTIONS MUST BE APPROVED BY PRESIDENT.
