Wake Forest is Hiring a Paramedic,New Garden Urgent Care Near Greensboro, NC

Job Summary:

The Paramedic provides emergency care to patients based on treatment protocols outlined by NCCEP protocols, following the guidelines set forth by the N.C. Office of EMS (NCOEMS). This role involves serving as a care team member in the Emergency Department, adhering to the Scope of Practice established by the Non-Traditional Practice Setting Agreement with N.C. Office of EMS and the Medical Center/hospital. The Paramedic cares for patients across various age categories, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Requirements:

  • Paramedic certification from an accredited paramedic program or an Associate’s of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in paramedic studies or equivalent.
  • Three years of Emergency Service experience preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and NC-OEMS certification as EMT-P required.
  • Critical care certificate or national registry paramedic, preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient-Centered Care: Provide patient/family-centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. This includes rapid evaluation of life-threatening emergencies, implementing prescribed therapies within the scope of practice, and collaborating with the nursing and medical team to establish treatment goals.
  2. Safety and Healing Environment: Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and demonstrating responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior. Promote the use of technology and equipment to enhance patient and staff safety.
  3. Effective Communication: Communicate effectively to facilitate the sharing of information across the continuum of care and as a valuable member of the healthcare team.
  4. Professionalism: Function professionally by actively participating in a professional practice model. This includes engaging in shared governance, adhering to care standards, participating in peer review, and contributing to professional development. Promote leadership, clinical excellence, teamwork, autonomous practice, and accountability for actions and critical thinking.
  5. Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate throughout the continuum of care, including various patient settings and in the community.
  6. Clinical Priorities: Identify clinical priorities and initiate action to improve patient outcomes.
  7. Medications and Treatments: Use medications, treatments, and protocols within the scope of practice defined by NCOEMS under physician orders.
  8. Documentation: Document all medication and treatment administered in the Electronic Medical Record. Provide and document patient reassessment in the Electronic Medical Record in line with hospital policy.
  9. Teamwork: Demonstrate high-level teamwork with other members of the Emergency Department Care team.
  10. Quality Improvement: Support an environment of evidence-based practice, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  11. Patient Flow: Facilitate optimal patient flow through the Emergency Department and ensure the safety and security of all patients.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to evaluate and appropriately respond to verbal and nonverbal communication from patients of all age groups.
  • Building rapport with hospital personnel, providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Ability to push stretchers, wheelchairs, carts, and equipment.
  • Clear and concise communication via telephone and other automation devices.
  • Ability to lift and position patients of all weights and heights using assistive devices and/or personnel.
  • Computer skills for electronic documentation of all patient care provided.
  • Compliance with applicable state and federal laws, local ordinances, established policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Handling emergency or crisis situations.
  • Subject to highly stressful and crowded conditions.
  • Moderate noise environment.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Handling absentee replacement on short notice.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
