Wake Forest Baptist Health is Hiring a Wellness RN, Float Near Salem, NC

JOB SUMMARY:

The Wellness Registered Nurse (RN) will work at either an employer-based on-site clinic or one of our Occupational Health locations, depending on client engagement. The key objective is to develop positive relationships by creating value through protocol-driven care, direct patient care within a clinic setting, health coaching, and education with wellness programming. The RN will be responsible for providing first aid and assisting with other occupational and environmental health services. The RN may be asked to participate in or conduct ergonomic evaluations and participate in environmental, health and safety (EH&S) committees, Wellness programs, and EH&S audits. The Wellness RN performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the client and the department. Some travel to other clinic locations may be required.

SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse is required in the state or states where clinics are located. Associate degree or higher required. BSN is preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION .

Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State where clinics are located and Basic Cardiac Life Support required. A valid driver’s license is required. In Wellness settings, the following is preferred: Certified Health Coach. In Occupational Health settings, the following is preferred: Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN), Certified Industrial Audiometric Technician, and NIOSH Approved Spirometry Training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides patient/family-centered care, acting as partner and adviser, assists and supports patients and families to optimally manage their health care, respecting their culture and values, individual needs, health goals, and treatment preferences
  • Applies critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment in order to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially given that the patient may be present with complex problems or potentially life-threatening conditions.
  • Facilitates continuity of care using the nursing process, multidisciplinary collaboration, and coordination of appropriate health care services and community resources across the care continuum. Interacts with patients during face-to-face encounters or through various telecommunication strategies, often establishing long-term relationships.
  • Applies the provisions of the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to their own professional obligations and for the patients entrusted to their care. Participates in their own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
  • Focuses on patient safety and the quality of nursing care by applying appropriate nursing interventions, such as identifying and clarifying patient needs, performing procedures, conducting health education, promoting patient advocacy, coordinating nursing and other health services, assisting the patient to navigate the health care system, and evaluating patient outcomes.
  • Provides leadership in the clinical setting and provides operational accountability for and coordination of nursing services, including the appropriate skill mix and delegation of roles and responsibilities for licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel.
  • Designs, administers, and evaluates nursing services within the organization in accordance with relevant federal requirements, state laws and nurse practice acts, regulatory standards, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of care teams for coordination of patient care, self-management, population management, and communication skill
  • Performs and maintains competency for point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with Atrium Health Point of Care policies and with applicable state and federal regulations
  • Provides one-on-one health coaching with patients
  • Consults with patients regarding health awareness, education, and care navigation
  • Performing physical assessment for regulatory compliance, providing first aid, completing associated scheduling and required recordkeeping, consulting with local management, alerting the company Workers’ Compensation Coordinator of site injuries requiring off-site evaluation/treatment, and notifying local medical facilities of the same
  • Perform drug testing, Pulmonary function testing, Breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and fit testing
  • Duties may require recordkeeping, actively participating in safety meetings throughout areas of support, educating patients on health-related topics, and establishing healthy working relationships with patients and site management
  • Evaluates the employee’s medical condition and ability to perform specific job functions
  • Recommends medical clearance when results are within guidelines of Medical Director directives and obtain physician concurrence on clearances as required
  • Make appropriate referrals for those who are not medically cleared while maintaining medical confidentiality
  • Appropriately document all medical examinations, tests, consultations, and evaluations
  • Assess injuries and illnesses to determine the need for first aid or referral to a higher level of treatment
  • Alert the Company designee of injuries before sending patients off-site for treatment
  • Notify off-site medical facility of injury coming to them for evaluation/treatment
  • Serve as a resource to patients for personal health issues and concerns
  • Refer patients to appropriate resources for consultation and information regarding specific medical conditions

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ensures business is conducted in a timely, confidential, courteous, and professional manner
  • Knowledge of specific disease and lifestyle related topics such as smoking cessation, weight management, nutrition, stress reduction and chronic conditions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients, and the public
