WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (12-15 days) Position is not available for a Hybrid Telework workweek 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Serves as the summer school lead for a Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) host site or individual site. Works with the principal or assistant principal of the host site to recommend employment for the extended summer learning staff at the WCPSS summer host site. Works in conjunction with the principal or assistant principal of the host site during the learning sessions to create and maintain a safe environment conducive to learning that includes overseeing and implementing the summer learning discipline plan, transportation, summer feeding, and medication procedures. Manages and coordinates curricular materials, teacher preparation, and assists with the end of camp assessment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

    • Extensive knowledge of the Science of Reading;
    • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google apps;
    • Knowledge of instructional coaching;
    • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills; 
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; 
    • Ability to work with diverse learners; 
    • Ability to perform data analysis and make data-driven decisions; 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with school system staff, students, and parents.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university; 
  • Two years of experience as a teacher or administrator.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university; 
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License for School Administrator Principal or Curriculum Instructional Specialist; 
  • Two years of experience as an elementary level teacher, leader or administrator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the summer camp lead for a WCPSS host site.
  • Assists Principal or AP to recommend employment for summer learning staff for a specific WCPSS summer school site. 
  • Assists Principal or AP with maintaining a safe environment conducive to learning that includes overseeing and implementing the summer learning discipline plan. 
  • Maintains appropriate documentation, meets all deadlines, and follows all guidelines, as outlined during summer learning training. 
  • Sets up classroom rosters for technology tools (ex. mCLASS, etc.) 
  • Assists with coordinating transportation, summer feeding, medication procedures, media center circulation, scheduling, academic curriculum, and assessments. 
  • Monitors the effectiveness of instruction and curriculum plans.
  • Conducts walkthroughs to ensure curriculum implementation with fidelity.
  • Assists with the end of camp assessment.
  • Attends all required meetings and training. 
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned by the principal/assistant principal and the district.. 
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, and parents. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force.
