MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the performance, maintenance and preventive/predictive activities for production machinery, facilities, and mobile equipment.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø Responsible to perform all duties and activities to create a safe, environmentally compliant workplace that produces high quality products in a cost-efficient manner.

Ø Assists with the preventive/predictive maintenance inspections and service on equipment, mobile machinery, and facilities.

Ø Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using diagnostic equipment, calibration devices, micrometers, and other gauges/tools.

Ø Tests and operates all equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with all specifications. (Safety, quality, environmental compliance, etc.)

Ø Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling, as necessary.

Ø Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure long-lasting & effective performance.

Ø Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.

Ø Orders and installs replacement parts such as filters for machines.

Ø Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.

Ø Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.

Ø Prepares reports documenting work performed (written and typed in SAP system).

Ø Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and filter/lubrication/oil supplies utilizing Lean/5S methods.

Ø Coordinates with Supervisors/managers to schedule regular PM maintenance on machines.

Ø Makes necessary modifications and implements test runs; confers with production supervisors/managers/process engineering regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.

Ø Will assist Maintenance Electricians within appropriate experience and training capabilities. (ex. Changing electrical terminals to replace motors, running cables/wires, basic electrical trouble shooting for lower voltage systems, etc.)

Ø Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

· Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.

· Must have strong welding (MIG/TIG), cutting (Torch, plasma), and fabricating skills.

· Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic systems

· Works well independently and with others.

· Good communication skills.

· Organized with attention to detail.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced and heavy industrial environment.

· Proficient reading blueprints and schematic diagrams.

· Must have willingness and ability to train others including operators, less experienced maintenance crews and contractors.

· Must have basic computer and typing skills.

· Must complete and maintain any assigned company required training and certifications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

HS diploma or equivalent required. Some vocational, technical or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, preferred. 1-5 years’ experience in heavy industrial environment preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Prolonged periods standing and walking.

· Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.

· Must be able to visually inspect machines.

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

· Ability to climb stairs/ladders on a regular basis.

· Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions.

· Must be capable of operating all manufacturing and mobile equipment including loaders, forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.

· Must be able to work wearing appropriate safety PPE including respirators.
