WAC Lighting Company is Hiring a Remote Custom Lighting Project Manager

HYBRID/REMOTE
Job Summary:
The Technical Product Manager is an integral part of the Sales Team. This self-driven individual reports to the Associate Director of Quotations & Custom Product in the areas of Project Management; recognizing opportunities to close profitable orders, supplying proactive delivery schedules, and providing high level Customer Support. The Technical Product Manager improves the Quotation process through swift, sound and complex decision making; following standards and recommending improved policy and procedure while leading Project Management of our Custom Product and WAC STRUT projects. This role coordinates cross functionally with Inside Sales, Purchasing, R&D and Order Processing, and works externally with Outside Sales Reps, Customers, Specifiers, and Contractors.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform Project Management for Custom Product and Custom Project orders and escalated WAC STRUT orders from Order Entry through Shipping. Maintain our Custom Product and WAC STRUT project schedule.
  • Review and redline technical engineering drawings to reflect updates prior to sending to the customer.
  • Work closely with our Overseas Factory to maintain Bill of Material and Routing Schedules and resolve technical issues with our Overseas Engineering Group.
  • Work cross functionally to review and resolve engineering issues during product development.
  • Deliver Quotations to customers by utilizing Sales and Technical knowledge for the preparation of quotation packages for complex projects. Identify alternatives for discontinued items. Flag potential material conflicts.
  • Support all levels of Material Quotes as requested by Inside Sales, Outside Sales Reps and Customers in accordance with designated timelines and deadlines.
  • Revise Layouts and Schedules to incorporate proposed product alternatives, working with urgency on all projects to meet tight deadlines as directed.
  • Coordinate bid strategy withInside Sales, Territory Sales Managers, and Outside Sales Representatives. Interpret customer requirements and offer solutions that maximize profitability and add value for the customer.
  • Perform root cause analysis of complications on projects or company procedures and suggest short and long-term resolution with implementation.
  • Work closely with the Sales Team to prepare Reports and to ensure accuracy of the Project/CRM database.
  • Maintain and improve project management process by following standards and recommending improved policies and procedures.
  • Follow through on drawing Sign-Offs, deposits and release of production information to maintain the project schedule. Ensure accurate documentation.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of CRM data.
  • Respond to elevated Customer and Rep inquires in an accurate, timely, efficient and courteous manner.
  • Continuously maintain a high level of product knowledge in order to proactively recognize and avoid project issues.
    Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related area of study.
  • 5 years of work experience in a Sales Driven Technical Project Management role with a Lighting Manufacturer, Electrical Distributor or a closely related Lighting or Electrical environment.
  • Proven professional experience reviewing and redlining technical lighting engineering drawings.
  • Ability and willingness for in hybrid work structure including in person work and travel.
  • High level verbal and written communication, time management, Project Management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail in composing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks/demands to get results.
  • Must be capable of independently making decisions on a daily basis.
  • Must be capable of effectively managing relationships with a focus on long term partnerships.
  • Proven ability to Effectively lead multiple projects and assignments through to completion.
  • Must have strong analytical, reporting and business communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Proven history of exhibiting a high-energy positive, can-do attitude.
  • An SAP power user is preferred, with familiarity with Quotations screens and cross functional department viewing screens.
  • Familiarity with using a CRM, such as Sugar, with report building capability is preferred.

The expected salary is $75,000-80,000 per year. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors allowed by law.
