Wabasso Rehabilitation and Wellness Center is Hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Near Wabasso, MN

Position Summary:

At Wabasso Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, the Assistant Director of Nursing is a valuable member of the clinical tea, who develops and maintains a facility wide Education Program and Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Program that ensures a safe, comfortable environment for the residents and a process that evaluates the quality of resident care based on best nursing practice and regulatory standards. The Assistant Director of Nursing will coordinate the duties of the educators related to orientation, mandatories and other educational needs identified as well as assist other departments related to their educational needs. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing this position will participate in the planning, implementing, and upgrading or modifying policies and procedures related to practice standards to meet all state and federal regulations. The Assistant Director of Nursing will coordinate the duties of the Quality Assurance Coordinator related to data collection, investigations, root cause analysis, reporting to the Department of Health and monitoring for compliance of practice standards as required or needed. This position will coordinate and manage all performance improvement projects for nursing and other departments. Come to work in a fun environment!

Essential Responsibilities

  • Establishes and updates education programs to be consistent with the evidence-based practice recommendations as well as Federal and State regulations.
  • In the absence of the Director of Nursing; will ensure the effective and efficient operations of the Nursing Department.
  • Develops and manages Policies and Procedures related to nursing practice, education, and quality in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Nursing and Administrator, participate with Labor Relation issues for the Nursing Department.
  • Provides education to all employees, residents, and families related to new and or revised protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Develops and ensures competency of all employees for all competencies required by both Federal and State regulations as well as skills required for best practice.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing to ensure all nursing annual mandatories are up to date.
  • Develop and implement processes to enable staff to provide the highest level of care as well as safe practice.
  • Maintains required statistics, completes reports, and ensures compliance with Federal and State requirements.
  • Reports and communicates data analysis and other relevant information to the Medical Director and the Director of Nursing in a timely and organized manner.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, submits required reports to Federal and State agencies as required.
  • Schedules, sets agenda, and conducts facility quality meetings related to quarterly Quality Assurance Meetings, Performance Improvement Projects, QAPI Meetings, and participates and reports to any other committees as requested.
  • Maintains current knowledge and competence in best practice, education concepts and management of Quality programs by participating in continuing education programs.
  • Acts as a role model and a preceptor within his/her role for all staff and students.
  • Responsible for effective communications between nursing and other departments related to Education, Quality, and Federal and State regulations.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Program and analysis of data relevant to the quality outcomes. Directs staff in performance improvement activities that improve outcomes, satisfaction and enhances organizational efficiency.
  • Participate in research regarding nursing practice, quality of care, education etc.
  • Prepares and participates in annual Department of Health Surveys, ensuring the facility complies with all Federal and State regulations.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, will ensure there is an appropriate number of staff scheduled each shift as well as nursing leadership coverage.

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Requirements

  • Must be organized; flexible in schedule; adaptable.
  • Ability to focus on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including call hours.
  • Ability to manage emotions of angry or hostile persons, (i.e., residents and/or family members).
  • Assist residents in small tasks, as requested.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and interact positively with staff, residents, and guests.
  • Must have a valid Minnesota RN license - in Good Standing
