Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will support the Pharmacy by satisfying the needs of our customers in a manner that conveys a high level of compassion, furthers the customer’s trust, and fosters their continued support and referrals.

This position will be a Part-Time (less than 30 hrs/week) position in our Highland, IN store with a varying schedule Monday-Saturday that is based on staff needs. The position has the potential of becoming Full-Time after 90 days.

Indiana Technician Licensing is required.

Job Responsibilities

• Uses professional communication skills during all oral and written communication with co-workers, customers, healthcare professionals, and vendors.

• Provides excellent customer service with patients at the counter and via telephone. This includes, but is not limited to, respectfully handling customer complaints in a caring and efficient manner.

• Demonstrates the highest level of confidentiality standards in handling customer relations, medical and prescription records, and HIPAA compliance at all times, including, but not limited to, obtaining needed information to register a new customer or verify a customer’s information to ensure their PHI is properly protected.

• In accordance with all state and federal regulations, assists the Pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the Pharmacist in performing other duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Checks all prescriptions for accuracy, with no less than 99.5% accuracy obtained, prior to submission to the Pharmacist for dispensing. As the utility technician, you will work where there is a need within the pharmacy, whether at the counter or medication synchronization.

• Maintains Pharmacy cleanliness and organization. This includes routine cleaning and sanitation per Company and CDC COVID regulations for all pharmacy areas, including but not limited to the filling areas, counters, shelves, and computer monitors/equipment. Also includes shelving drugs, checking and removing expired drugs, and returning to stock any prescriptions that have not been picked up by patients.

• Assists in inventory management including ordering, checking, pricing, and stock of all drugs and supplies including over-the-counter items.

• Greets customers by name, whenever possible. Assists customers with both Pharmacy and non-Pharmacy purchases.

• Handles incoming and outgoing calls that do not require personal attention of the Pharmacist, including those to physicians.

• Able to complete additional tasks as requested by Supervisor or Management.

Skills

• Knowledge of and skilled in the operation of computers to adequately work with patient and pharmaceutical software, and internet confirmation/verification of patient insurance benefits.

• Excellent oral and written communication with customers, vendors, and healthcare professionals.

• Good customer service skills with a positive demeanor and attitude.

• Knowledge and implementation of HIPAA privacy and security rules.

• Detail oriented, self-starter, strong math skills.

Requirements

• Current Indiana Pharmacy Technician license required.

• Sales/customer service experience required, preferably in retail pharmacy.

• Ability to meet the physical demands of repetitive standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, reaching.

• Available to work rotating shifts Monday through Saturday.
