Summary:

To effectively perform general laboratory test procedures following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and current Good Laboratory Practices (cGLPs) under general supervision. The successful candidate will be a key contributor in a team committed to quality services.

Your primary activities will include but are not limited to:

• Perform analysis of incoming raw materials, in-process, send samples to 3^rd party, follow up results, and finished products according to SOPs. Prepare and submit accurate analytical reports in a timely manner. Calibrate and operate analytical instruments to analyze samples correctly and promptly. Prepares analytical standards and reagents used in analyses. Record and update instruments run logs and maintenance logbook.
• Performs light clerical duties, such as data entry, logs incoming samples, records analytical results, and preparation of reports. Performs literature search for analytical methods, and revises and/or generate SOPs. Tracks and maintains inventory of chemicals, consumables and glassware. Tracks and maintains the reduced testing program for excipients and other raw materials tested in the lab.
• Assist with daily routine work in maintenance of lab cleanliness and order. Assist with maintenance of stocked laboratory supplies and place orders with Administrative Assistants in accordance to current established procedures as needed. Maintain laboratory condition, to include equipment, supplies and accurate records throughout all procedures. Assistance in all lab areas as needed.
• Communicates with internal/external clients, outside vendors, and instrument technicians/repairmen. Keeps management apprised of any condition and/or findings that may impact production schedules including any issues for which the customer may need to be contacted.
• Moisture analysis, tapped/bulk density, particle size via sieving method, UV-Vis spectrometry, FTIR spectrometry, TOC, HPLC and UPLC chromatography, dissolution, disintegration, weighing, etc. Performs multiple tasks in the proper sequence to effectively obtain analytical data. Quality Control Tech must be team and goal oriented.

You’ll need the following (minimum qualifications):

• High School Diploma, BS or BA in chemistry or closely related scientific discipline; 0 to 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in food/pharmaceutical/nutraceutical processing operations and/ or FDA regulated industry.
• Strong decision-making skills and a logical approach to resolving job-related challenges.
• Basic laboratory techniques in microbiology and/or chemistry are required, including understanding of aseptic techniques.
• Experience with analytical instruments is preferred but not required.
• Organizational skills necessary to ensure completion of assignments.
• Good oral and written communications skills.
• Possesses a genuine desire to work in Quality Control Laboratory and truly likes working within all aspects of the chemistry process.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs., climb step-up ladders, and perform constant motions of scooping, wiping, raising of arms, bending, and kneeling, if needed
• Ability to be exposed to nutraceutical raw materials and powders which may include allergen related items.

A reasonable estimate of the current Hourly range for this position is $24.00 to $28.85 Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
