GENERAL SUMMARY

A technical leader, influencing the strategic direction of the DevOps team. Designs and implements innovative solutions for complex application landscapes, focusing on high availability and disaster recovery. Collaborates with cross-functional leaders, driving organizational change, and participating in hiring efforts.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Automate the build, deployment, and management of applications and infrastructure
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to support application deployment and infrastructure needs
• Design and implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
• Debug and troubleshoot production issues
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and recommend upgrades and improvements to the IT infrastructure
• Document system designs, processes, and best practices
• Ensure the reliability and performance of systems and services.
• Mentor and guide junior DevOps Engineers in best practices
• Create high level architectural designs and proof of concept implementations
• Maintain compliance with the knowledge requirements outlined on the department intranet site

KEY CORE SKILLS:

• Expert in CloudFormation
• Expert understanding of YAML based pipelines such as GitLab or Circle-CI
• Proficient in either Linux or Windows
• Proficient in either Bash or PowerShell scripting
• Expert understand of OSI network model, subnetting, and network classes
• Expert understanding of various run-times such as Java, Node, or .NetCore and how applications are built and deployed in a CI/CD methodology
• Expert understanding of AWS IAM services and actions
• Expert in AWS Organizations
• Expert in AWS WAF multi-account deployment
• Expert in AWS serverless services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, and API gateway

Qualifications

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• 8 years of experience in a related position
• Expert understanding of distributed systems, networks, and operating systems
• Expert proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript, or C#
• Expert knowledge of cloud computing, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Expert familiarity with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Expert understanding of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Expert problem-solving skills
• Advanced ability to work effectively in a team environment
