Job Description

This position will own all specs, grades, fit sessions and will communicate directly with suppliers to ensure proper understanding of corrections needed for next sample stage. The role of Technical Designer will be responsible for managing any construction improvements and will work closely with technical design partners, design and product development to collectively make great quality active apparel. There is opportunity for additional breadth of responsibilities in this role as we continue to grow as a brand. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Creation of new style specifications (could include collaboration on pattern creation from scratch with Sr. TD) 
  • Manage/Maintain all specs and grades from initial set up through production (proto’s, PPs, Size Sets, TOPs) in Excel
  • Prepares for and leads fit sessions for assigned category (measures garments /reviews and identifies fit issues proactively) 
  • Organizes fit model searches and scheduling
  • Communicates all fit and construction related comments to the vendor and internal teams within development and production timelines in a professional manner. 
  • Establishes and maintains fit, construction standards and blocks to ensure fit consistency and quality. 
  • Experience with reading and correcting patterns either through software or via other methods (taking photos, drawing on patterns, etc.) 
  • Understanding and knowledge of grading, support and participate in grading projects. 
  • Works to improve fit and quality through review of customers comments, sales feedback, and understanding of competition. 
  • Responsible for managing and hitting all deadlines along with communicating any challenges. 
  • Comfortable with working on variety of categories (knit, woven, performance, or lifestyle) 
  • Maintain full understanding of assigned styles and historical issues. 
  • Strong understanding fabrications and how they react with silhouettes.
  • Is a team player, able to work closely with other team members to help manage overall workload with regards to construction, fit, approvals, comments, timelines, etc. 
  • Responsible for providing all product related fit details for catalog / website. 

Qualifications

  • Degree in tech design, patternmaking, or related field and/or equivalent work experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical design roles 
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with cross functional teams (design, development, merch and production) 
  • Must have excellent communication, time management and organizational skills 
  • Must have experience communicating with vendors overseas.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently 
  • Must be able to work proficiently in Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator 
  • Knowledge of computer patternmaking is preferred (example: Gerber, 3D V-Stitcher / Browzswear) 
  • Knowledge of PLM is a plus 

Additional Information

Pay Range: $76,500-$90,000/yr
