Arwood Machine seeks a Quality Inspector for our Newburyport, MA location.

Job Purpose

The Quality Inspector is to verify CMM programming measurements, supervise, and lead a group of Quality Assurance professionals in the final quality control. Arwood operates in an environmentally controlled, state-of-the-art facility committed to producing quality parts for our clients. We manufacture products for several industries, including aerospace, military and defense, satellite, and medical devices.

Key Accountabilities

  • Expert Knowledge of GD&T.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Use of inspection equipment and tools and the ability to perform manual measurements.
  • Ability to verify CMM program measurements using manual/mechanical equipment.
  • Possess strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to supervise and lead a group of quality assurance professionals to excellence.
  • Proficient math aptitude (i.e., geometry, trigonometry, algebra)

Qualifications

  • GED, high school diploma, Vocational or military training, or work equivalent. 
  • Must be able to follow blueprints and process sheets.
  • Demonstrate ability to read and understand the English language.
  • Good hand/eye coordination. 
  • Detail-oriented and consistent.
  • Works well as a mentor and productive member of a team

Preferred

  • Graduate of Advanced Machine Technology Course
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of 5S/6S
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Excited about taking on new challenges and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, practical mindset

 Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift to 30 pounds at a time. 
  • Must have manual dexterity to assemble products.
  • Must use required safety protection when and where required
