Arwood Machine seeks a Quality Engineer for our Newburyport, MA location.

Job Purpose

As the Quality Engineer at Arwood Machine, a VulcanForms Company, located in Newburyport, MA, you will develop internal and supply chain risk management documentation. You will also Review customer purchase orders, customer quality documentation, and specifications to assess risk and determine quality requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop internal and supply chain risk management documentation. Elements may include APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, Control Charts, Process Flow, etc.
  • Review customer purchase orders, customer quality documentation, and specifications to assess risk and determine quality requirements.
  • Complete and submit FAIRs for finished customer parts (AS9102, Net-Inspect).
  • Conduct customer surveys and self-assessments to meet customer requirements and quality programs (Sabre, Zero Defects, etc.)
  • Complete customer training and certifications as needed (Sabre, DPRV, SRP, ZDP, Auditor, etc.)
  • Conduct routine internal QMS audits, product/process audits, and operator audits. Document and assess results to determine conformance and support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in customer compliance audits.
  • Conduct root cause investigations using tools such as 5 Why, 8D, etc. Develop and implement corrective actions that address root cause investigation findings.
  • Communicate with outside vendors to convey quality requirements and resolve issues
  • Develop concessions for non-conforming product (Rework, Repair, UAI)
  • Gather part dimensional data and develop SPC charts to analyze process capability.
  • Review job routers to assure all customer requirements are met and to assure operation controls and instructions are sufficient. Develop Quality Control inspection reports and instructions as needed.
  • Review outgoing PO's for compliance (material, hardware, subcontractors, special processes, material testing, etc.)
  • Maintain Approved Supplier List, add new suppliers, regularly evaluate current supplier approval status based on customer requirements and/or international standard certifications (ISO:9001, AS9100, NADCAP, Customer ASLs)
  • Support the control, monitoring, and evaluation of outside vendors.
  • Balloon Customer drawings (Inspection Xpert, Discus)
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards: ISO:9001, AS9100, ISO:13485
  • Understanding of manufacturing materials, equipment, and processes (machining, assembly, inspection equipment)
  • Experience with customer quality documentation
  • Experience with customer compliance audits and internal QMS audits
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
