As Virginia’s home for public media, VPM connects nearly 2 million people across Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley to insightful programming in arts and culture, history, science, news and education. As an independent, non-profit service, we strive to create and serve a more informed public.
We are looking for additional part-time Digital Operations Technicians to work on an as needed basis covering all shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
Technicians are responsible for acquiring content from varied sources in different formats, monitoring signal streams and ensuring that scheduled events run correctly. This position is responsible for preventing, monitoring and reporting on-air errors.
The ideal candidate should have the ability to perform basic troubleshooting of both standard and high-definition broadcast streams and automation. With a basic understanding of or experience in broadcast video and audio standards as well as digital signal flow, the candidate should have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Experience in a server-based broadcast operation and knowledge of broadcast automation and video file server technology is preferred. Technicians report into the Digital Operations Supervisor.
