Scientific Drilling is looking for an entry/early career Electronic Engineer to work at our Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA. Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging service company serving customers worldwide.

We are looking for an Electronic Engineer to be a key part of a small collaborative team focused on the design and advancement of hardware and software tools for our cased hole and wellbore placement measurements systems. Our industry leading wellbore placement systems provide real time geology and navigation measurements, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world. Our cased hole systems provide reliable technologies for assessing already existing wells for integrity, location, and performance. We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may vary based on the education and experience of the candidate but will generally include:

• Designs, develops, and tests electronic systems and subsystems from concept to production:
  • precision analog-to-digital converter sensor interfaces
  • low power electronic design
  • microcontroller, DSP, and FPGA system design
  • prototype firmware for system and board testing
  • navigation grade sensor design and integration
  • specialty wireless data communications systems
  • switch mode power supplies and motor controllers
• Collaborates at all levels with a multi-disciplinary team (mechanical, software, firmware, and systems)
• Conducts, analyzes, and documents lab and field test results using

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering, CPE Bachelors, Masters Degree, or equivalent experience
• 0-2 years experience in engineering
• Passionate problem solver
• Electronic design from concept to manufactured hardware
• Hands-on simulation, debugging, bring up, and testing of electronic subsystems and systems
• Knowledge of control systems, servos, PLLs, sensors, communications
• Experience developing and debugging algorithms in Python, MATLAB, and/or C
• Experience with Schedmatic Capture & PCB layout (Altium software) preferred
• Exposure/experience with harsh environment electronic circuit design & application, including high temp (150C ) and high vibration a plus
• Exposure/experience with high voltage power supplies, sensor calibration, motor driven circuit design, and solenoid valve driver design preferred
