Director of Clinical Services

The Director of Clinical Services (LCSW preferred) is responsible for supervision of the social services necessary to meet the legal, organizational, medical staff and regulatory agency guidelines. Supervises therapy services, case management, education, and discharge planning. Provides guidance and supervision of other social workers, therapists, and interns. All duties to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Voyages Behavioral Health policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. This is an exempt position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative

• Complies with policies and procedures of Voyages Behavioral Health and ensures compliance with standards outlined by regulatory agencies and surveyors.
• Designates team safety rep. and ensures equipment checks, completion of forms.
• Implements quality assurance, risk and safety programs with adherence to CQI process.
• Assists management with intake, admissions and charge entry to ensure timely, accurate processes and statistical data.
• Demonstrates the ability to resolve complex issues and makes sound judgment in problem resolution.
• Assist management with accreditation and regulatory compliance programs; provides leadership for behavioral health services during external surveys.
• Partners with appropriate leaders to develop, coordinate and deliver in-services, education sessions, presentations and training to clients, families, staff, and other caregivers.
• Develop and implement an engaging social services schedule, including the development of curriculum.
• Provides clinical supervision of other social workers, therapists, and interns.
• Performs evaluations on staff in compliance with Voyages P&P.
• Performs regular audits of medical records for compliance with discipline specific and other standards. Participates in interdisciplinary peer review of records as warranted.
• Coordinates, implements, and monitors process improvement, outcomes, and patient satisfaction to ensure corporate goals are achieved.
• Monitors budget performance and ensures effective cost control utilization of resources.
• Monitors and trends all productivity data to ensure appropriate utilization of manpower. Maintains cost effective and efficient staffing patterns with established productivity standards. Assists in investigation of variances.
• Demonstrates awareness of fiscal policy and the ability to be creative and flexible in the management of fiscal resources.
• Consistently meets deadlines and completes all assigned tasks.
• Works independently, setting priorities and organizing work while maintaining flexibility.
• Assists in preparation of monthly reports in a timely manner.
• Identifies opportunities for development and provision of new programs and services for facility.
• Implements new products and services as developed.
• Develops and refines program descriptions, policies and procedures and implementation guides for programs and services.
• Provides or obtains sufficient and appropriate staff education to ensure quality program provision and achievement of educational objectives.
• Assists in the development of new programs and enhanced services through ongoing assessment of the needs of the market.
• Provides clinical and/or administrative services appropriate to licensure/certification and training level, including services to patients of varying diagnoses and ages, noted above.
• Performs clinical functions as necessary.
• Provides clinical supervision of individual, group and family session for patients.
• Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and participates in chart reviews for quality assurance.
• Supervises the social services department including the following functions: discharge and after care planning, completion of discharge summaries, completion of clinical documentation and providing guidance to staff.
• Reviews psychosocial documentation, completion of outcome studies assessments and development of clinical notes.
• Provides Clinical Social Work services, including group, individual and family services including communication in an age/disability/culturally sensitive milieu.
• Demonstrates responsibility for own professional growth.
• Maintains licensure/certification requirements in clinical specialty when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training: Must be a LMSW or LCSW in the state in which the hospital resides. BLS required. Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards required.

Experience: 3-5 years clinical experience and 2-3 years in an appropriate supervisory role.

• Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate multi-disciplinary personnel to meet staff and clinic needs.
• Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships with peers, supervisory management personnel and staff.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate with staff, patients; and caregivers in working toward a favorable clinical and community outcome.
• Ability to plan and develop programs and budgets in support of the mission.
• Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software packages to enhance clinic management.
