VoxelMaps Inc. is Hiring an Environmental Mapping Operator Near Denver, CO

This is not a remote role and you must live in the greater Denver, Colorado metropolitan area.
We are currently working with a major utility company to collect map data. The collection of map data involves operating vehicles equipped with a sensor device. This sensor will scan and collect data of the utility network and route you are following.
As part of this project, we are seeking people to operate and navigate the vehicles around the areas to be mapped, which are outside of the Denver Metro area and extend across the Eastern half of Colorado. The collection area is contained with a boundary from Nederland to Breckenridge/Fairplay to Cripple Creek to Pueblo West to Colardo City to Kit Carson/Eads to Watkins. We are looking for Environmental Mapping Operators (navigation AND the operation of the technical equipment) who are enthusiastic, friendly and safe. You will be working as part of a larger team so being personable is required. You should be comfortable working for long periods (approximately 10 hours per night) and have experience in operating/navigating in all situations: i.e. cities, freeways, suburban and rural. You should have a working knowledge of GPS and navigation applications. You should have a basic understanding of operating a computer (basic software), Windows operating systems and can maneuver between different software applications on an iPad or Tablet. Technical operation does not require any experience or need for programming.
This position will work nights, 4 nights on 3 nights off then 3 nights on 4 nights off, switching shifts with another operator. The collection may require infrequent overnight stays outside of the Denver city limits.

Environmental Mapping Technical Operator Responsibilities:
  • Operate sensor/mapping vehicles with care and attention, abiding by all traffic and highway rules.
  • Use navigation software and other applications as instructed to follow routes.
  • Work effectively as part of a larger mapping team.
  • Interact with other operators, Drive Coordinators and members of the public in a professional manner.
  • Work a regular night-shift schedule, with occasional overtime.
  • Occasionally spend multiple days in the field, staying in hotels.
  • Complete daily checks on the vehicle and equipment and notify the manager of any issues.
  • Operate carefully especially with regard to the equipment on the vehicle, such as knowledge of the height of the vehicle with the equipment, being mindful of low- hanging objects such as trees.
  • Protect the equipment and vehicle by always parking the vehicle securely.
  • Follow security protocols and instructions from managers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the project and the data collected.
  • Maintain required logs as set forth by the Project Manager.
  • Operate and monitor the sensor equipment on a daily basis in the mapping vehicle.
  • Consideration for and care of the equipment and its functionality is mandatory.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Be a citizen, Legal Residence Card, or a Working Visa (no Student Visas accepted).
  • A valid operator's license to operate in any valid state.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to listen to managers and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Basic Technical Familiarity with maps, phones and tablet/laptop computers.
  • Be able to logically follow technical instructions.
  • Good understanding of the United States road network, and have experience with mountain driving in all seasons.
  • Be a good communicator and be able to complete reports for managers.
  • Strength to lift up to 50lbs, plus bending and twisting.
  • Honest, open and transparent communication.

Pay & Compensation:
  • $23.50 per hour 1.5x for overtime (paid bi-weekly)
  • $2000 attendance and completion bonus paid at the end of project
  • Company vehicle (to perform collection only)
  • Gas card provided for each vehicle
  • Reimbursable unplanned expenses with receipts
  • Hotel and per diem paid when applicable
