Position Overview:

Vote.org is seeking a dynamic and experienced Major Gifts Director to join our team. The Major Gifts Director will play a key role in cultivating relationships with major donors, securing significant gifts, and driving philanthropic support for our mission. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive major gifts strategy, identifying and engaging high-net-worth individuals, and ensuring a positive and meaningful donor experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Major Gifts Strategy:

    • Create and execute a strategic plan for major gifts, aligning with the organization's overall fundraising goals.

    • Identify and prioritize major donor prospects, utilizing research and data analysis to inform cultivation strategies.

  • Cultivate and Steward Major Donors:

    • Cultivate relationships with high-net-worth individuals and family foundations, building rapport and trust in the organization's mission.

    • Plan and execute personalized cultivation activities, including meetings, events, and communications.

  • Proposal Development and Presentation:

    • Collaborate with the programmatic and leadership teams to develop compelling funding proposals tailored to the interests and priorities of major donors.

    • Present proposals and updates to major donors clearly and persuasively.

  • Meet Fundraising Targets:

    • Set and achieve annual fundraising targets for major gifts, working collaboratively with the development team to meet overall fundraising goals.

  • Data Management and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions in the CRM system.

    • Prepare and manage call time with CEO, COO, VP of Development, and Board members. 

    • Prepare regular weekly reports on major gift activities, progress towards goals, and relevant metrics.

  • Collaborate with the Development Team:

    • Work collaboratively with the development team to integrate major gifts into the overall fundraising strategy.

    • Participate in team meetings, strategy sessions, and other collaborative initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of successful major gifts fundraising, with a focus on securing significant donations from high-net-worth individuals.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage donors effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and impact.

  • Experience working with CRM systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • CFRE certification is a plus.

  • Passion for the mission of Vote.org and a commitment to promoting civic engagement and democracy.
