VorTek Systems is Hiring a Network Administrator Near bakersfield, CA

Network Administrator
Bakersfield, CA
Pay: $50 per hour
On-Site position 5 days per week. 

The Network Administrator is responsible for the daily operations of the computer networks, including LANs (Local Area Networks), WANs (Wide Area Networks), internet, intranet, and other data communication systems. This role involves installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment, monitoring network performance, and troubleshooting issues to ensure optimal network performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Network Management:

    • Install, configure, and support network hardware and software.
    • Monitor network performance to ensure availability and reliability.
    • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
    • Manage and configure network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  2. Security:

    • Implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
    • Conduct regular security audits and ensure compliance with security policies.
    • Monitor and analyze network traffic for unusual or suspicious activities.
  3. Troubleshooting:

    • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software network issues.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and IT staff.
    • Collaborate with vendors and support services to resolve complex issues.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, processes, and services.
    • Prepare and maintain network diagrams and topology maps.
    • Generate regular reports on network performance and security status.
  5. Project Management:

    • Plan and implement network-related projects, including expansions and upgrades.
    • Coordinate with other IT and business departments for network needs and requirements.
    • Ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
  6. Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay updated with the latest network technologies and industry trends.
    • Recommend improvements and innovations to enhance network performance and efficiency.
    • Participate in professional development activities and training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 4 years of experience in network administration or a similar role.
  • Certifications: Preferred certifications include CompTIA Network , Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or other relevant network certifications.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in network protocols, routing, and switching.
    • Experience with network security and firewall technologies.
    • Knowledge of network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
    • Familiarity with virtual private networks (VPN), VLANs, and remote access technologies.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
