Job Summary for CNC Machinist:
As a CNC Machinist, you'll play a crucial role in our production operations, contributing to daily scheduling and setup of both CNC and conventional machines. Your tasks will involve working with diverse materials and components, including specialized setups for customer projects. The CNC Machinist position focuses on setting up and operating computer numerical controlled (CNC) vertical machining centers, CNC lathes, and 4-axis controllers to craft high tolerance and precision metallic and nonmetallic parts.
Compensation based upon experience
Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist:
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequences of operations, and setup requirements accurately.
- Generate, adjust, or modify CNC programs manually or with Computer-Aided Machining software (CAM).
- Verify dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces for subsequent machining.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and drill presses.
- Adjust machine controls to regulate machining factors and monitor machine operation for malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
- Inspect finished workpieces using precision instruments to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Conduct trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Education & Experience Required:
- Associates degree in Machine/Tool and Die Technology or completion of an apprenticeship program.
- Alternatively, certification from a Certified Apprenticeship Program.
- Proficiency in running and setting up both conventional and CNC equipment.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with quality control processes is preferred.
