We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer/Project Manager to support our Southeast Region located in Atlanta, GA (mid-town area) . This position is a hybrid position . The candidate will need to have the flexibility to come into the office to train and develop staff and meet with clients as the position grows.

The ideal candidate will support the engineering team’s development of construction bid documents and assist with business development activities.

The position will be a key part of the Volkert structures group in the southeast and across the company.

What you’ll be doing:

• Manage and be a lead technical resource for bridge/bridge replacement projects in Georgia and across the company
• Perform/supervise calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs
• Perform/supervise load ratings on bridges of various type size and complexity
• Review calculations and design details developed by others
• Attend meeting with clients and other professionals and organizations
• Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints
• Review shop drawings and other construction related submittals
• Quantity take-off for bridge project engineer’s estimate
• Lead marketing bridge and structure design work in Georgia and assist companywide

What you need to have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Georgia
• 10 - 15 years of engineering experience in bridge design, and some project management experience
• GDOT experience is strongly preferred
• Skilled in the use of MicroStation InRoads, experience with OpenRoads a plus
• Technical expertise for the layout & design of bridges and related highway structures
• Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and highway structures
• Knowledge of AASHTO and other pertinent bridge design specifications
