Typical Duties / Responsibilities:
• Prompt, regular, and dependable attendance
• Design or approve designs by outside personnel for expansions or modifications to existing equipment, facilities, etc., throughout the plant
• Coordinate construction activity on the plant site
• Participate with Process Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations personnel to solve daily problems in areas of I&E, Mechanical, structural, and process.
• Obtain and evaluate bids from outside contractors on project implementation and equipment procurement.
• Monitor costs of projects and provide construction management of same
• Prepare estimates and Return of Investment (ROI) for plant expansion projects and modifications.
• Ensure all projects comply with OSHA, EPA, and other federal and local regulatory agencies.
• Ensure project designs comply with appropriate construction standards (ASME, NFPA, NEC, etc.)
• Monitor and Control SHES, Costs, Schedule, and Quality of all active projects.
• Review and recommend approval of proposals as assigned, ensuring efficient production methods, flow of work, and use of space
• Follow completed projects to ensure that anticipated benefits are achieved
• Evaluate the effectiveness of facilities for projected manufacturing schedules, ensuring that dependable cost estimates are prepared to guide management in evaluating alternative proposals
• Participate in the development of long-range plans for major layout changes, incorporation of new processes, selection of equipment, and other related matters
• Expedite certain segments of projects to avoid costly delays
• Provide advice and counsel to the Purchasing Department in the preparation of materials and devices to be used in the plant’s operation
• Institute meaningful cost reduction programs as assigned
• Recommend and specify materials of construction and/or equipment when desirable
• Prepare periodic reports or other data for presentation to plant management indicating the record of achievement of established goals and recommended improvements
• Ensure the maintenance of various engineering records and prepare reports to measure the effectiveness of existing facilities and methods for current and projected manufacturing schedules
• Ensure that staff proposals include factors such as efficiency, dependability, quality, and safety
• Recommend proper use of machines, tools, and equipment; appraise technological developments; investigate the feasibility of new equipment and techniques; prepare dependable cost estimates for changes in manufacturing methods
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of site-specific SHES information to ensure effective application to each project
• Participate in the development of new or improved products; recommend and specify new materials and/or equipment and design the process flow
• Periodically examine unit processes for updating techniques, quality, and overall efficiency
• Supervise and participate in the design and development of machinery equipment, jigs, and fixtures for all areas of the plant site
• Recommend capital expenditures to management for approval
• Ensure that all designs of equipment comply with applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
• Work closely with parent company representatives and teammates to implement projects
• Participate in setting goals and objectives for the department
• Coordinate construction activities with the affected areas of the facility
• Interface with other engineers, and managers, in group meetings as required
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with all other departments to ensure effective execution of equipment and building modification as well as new equipment and new facility installation
• Participate in making suggestions for design changes to equipment, fixtures, and facilities
• Provide continuous and effective communication to all affected areas and management on project status
• Participate in implementing preventive and predictive maintenance systems
• Participate with other team members in developing an adequate spare parts list for stockroom inventory
• Recommend spare parts for all newly installed equipment based on manufacturers' guidelines
• Ensure effective turnover of required engineering documentation at the end of each capital project
• Support the update and control of PSM-related engineering documentation
• Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related electrical engineering degree)
• Minimum of 3 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong people skills
• Ability to participate in a team environment.
