VNS Federal Services is Hiring a Safety Representative Near Hanford, WA

Responsibilities

  • Report injuries, illnesses, and accidents to the CONTRACTOR in a timely manner.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all safety questions and concerns at the ERDF.
  • The safety officer and industrial hygiene personnel shall be present on site during the established site work hours to fully support work activities. Safety and industrial hygiene coverage shall be coordinated as necessary during approved hours outside of the established site work hours (i.e., early starts and overtime).
  • Conduct and document incident and accident investigations to minimize probability of reoccurrence.
  • Submit required reports to the BUYER per contract requirements.
  • The Safety Officer shall accompany injured/ill personnel to site occupational medical provider and actively manage occupational injury and illness cases. This may be delegated for personal illness cases.
  • Communicate the status and health of the safety program to the BUYER on a routine basis including current issues, process improvements, and lessons learned.
  • Provide SME support safety and health programs and respective regulatory requirements.
  • Assist project management in planning for adequate resources necessary to provide safety and health support.
  • Coordinate work planning within the safety group to ensure adequate and timely coverage is available.
  • Prepare and oversee the completion of S&H reports, plans, procedures, assessments, and project strategies to ensure CVE activities are conducted in compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Ensure safety representation at work planning meetings (including plan of the day (POD) meetings, job hazard analysis (JHA) reviews, Fact Finding meetings, plan for tomorrow meetings, weekly planning meetings, and others) to maintain a strong awareness of upcoming field work activities and to use information from those meetings to plan the appropriate oversight.
  • Provide a strong field presence and perform oversight of field operations to ensure compliance with approved safety program; safety and health programs and by observing work, mentoring supervision, and promoting communications with the work force.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with supervision and management that fosters communications of all incidents, no matter how seemingly insignificant, to safety.
  • Provide leadership and coordination of employee involvement in implementation of the Safety and Health program, integrated safety management system (ISMS), employee and company level safety groups/programs and Voluntary Protection Program activities.
  • Anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control hazards working to eliminate injuries, illnesses, and accidents.
  • Provide safety and health support for development of work plans, activities, and documents.
  • Take ownership of and promote the safety program to further develop the safety culture at the ERDF.

Qualifications

General

  • Five years Safety Management experience at a construction site, landfill, or heavy industrial facility.
  • Five years’ experience at a facility handling hazardous materials.
  • Proficient in MS outlook, Word and Excel.

Education

  • HS Diploma

Certifications

  • BCSP Certified (OHST, CHST, ASP, CSP)
