Under direct supervision, performs Estimator job functions as assigned by management. Typical job responsibilities assist and support management in ensuring that all Estimator duties are conducted in a manner that is safe, cost effective and fully compliant with VNSFS procedures and all contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Essential Functions:
Prepares construction budgets & estimates by reviewing plans, specifications, & other construction documentation Evaluates challenges that may not be on construction documentation and incorporates those into project budget Manages pricing from all vendors and subcontractors to incorporate those into project budget Establishes and maintains a historical cost database for labor, material, and equipment to ensure accurate and efficient bids Contributes & elaborates with preconstruction team to reach company’s goals
Accountabilities: Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during their “core” work hours. Overtime may be required as job demands.
Work Environment:This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Education & Certifications:
• BA/BS degree in a related field and 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Typical experience ranges from 1 - 4 years.
Experience & Requirements:
• Experience with construction drawings and specifications• Strong familiarity with project estimation software tools, methodologies, and best practices• Ability to work independently & also in a team environment• Ability to create professional proposals and presentations• Experience with Microsoft project (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.)• Very detail oriented• Work well in a fast-paced team environment• Basic PC skills including Microsoft software• Basic understanding of federal and state policies and regulations• Strong interpersonal and communication skills• Pre-Employment Physical (office or field work)• Drug Screen• The ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance• Background Check• Any site training That is required.
Travel:Limited/as needed.
