We are looking for a dynamic, collaborative strategy and product marketing leader to prioritize and drive the right go-to-market efforts for our Tanzu Application Service. In this strategy through execution role, you will have (or develop) a keen understanding of VMware’s customers, key buyer personas and will use this knowledge to grow the market for the products. You will craft clear, current and differentiated product positioning and messaging. You will also be savvy of technology industry trends, particularly involving software developers , platform engineering and IT leadership, be a constant collaborator with sales and other go-to-market teams and apply creative problem solving and analytical skills to drive strategic business goals.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Performance outcomes would include clearly defined (and executed) product marketing strategies for the Tanzu Application Service. This would also include targeted campaigns, event participation, webinars, seller enablement initiatives and other marketing activities aimed at driving annual business goals. The ability to work within a globally matrixed environment, build relationships and influence stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams (Marketing, Solutions, Sales, Technology, Product) is critical to success. 5 years of experience in product marketing to software developers, platform engineers and IT leaders is desired. An intermediate understanding of software development tools and processes and/or cloud native technology and practices is also desirable.

What will you do?

  • Influence long-term strategies while concurrently building new business and driving today’s business results and execution for the Tanzu Application Service
  • Drive the core positioning and messaging across customers and use-cases for our developer solutions on Tanzu Application Service
  • Develop strategy and execute plans with a compelling content strategy to capitalize in industry moments, gain market influence with thought leadership, and high performing demand generation campaigns
  • Establish, track and maintain KPIs on Marketing activities and their impact
  • Apply creative problem solving skills to drive strategic business goals. Deliver analytically rigorous and data driven insights to support strategic direction and prioritization.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners like systems integrators, managed service provider and cloud service providers for high impact joint marketing plans
  • Work with open source developer communities focusing on user engagement
  • Develop high value customer reference assets to validate new solutions in the market
  • Design and deliver crisp sales and partner enablement content and training to facilitate consultative selling for targeted use cases
  • Deliver key storylines, differentiators, and value propositions to the field and key partners
  • Ensure content (e.g. case studies, sales enablement materials, product videos, web copy, competitive battle cards, customer-facing white papers) communicate the unique capabilities of our product offerings in customer language
  • Work with a cross-functional team (e.g. sales, marketing, product management, engineering, communications)

You will report to Brian Cox, Director of Product Marketing, an experienced manager who has been leading Product Marketing teams in the Developer and IT Infrastructure space for many years. Brian’s leadership style encourages initiative, creativity, independent thinking and emphasizes a team-first attitude based on mutual respect and openness to new ideas.
Brian’s team spans the United States and India and works closely with VMware Tanzu Product and Sales people around the world to solve challenging problems on behalf of our customers. The organization’s distributed nature demands effective communication skills and flexibility and offers exposure to diverse perspectives that help provide a rich professional experience.

Where is the role located?
