Full Job Description

Responsible for day-to-day field service including but not limited to troubleshooting & repair, installations, predictive & preventive maintenance, etc. Seeking an individual with at least some experience in the field.

Basic Job Responsibilities:

Drive to customers' facilities ( Throughout Michigan, occasionally Ohio and Indiana).

Diagnose customer’s machine issues and repair Customer's machine on site.

Must be able to lift about 70 lbs. Climb in and out of the machine.

Must be able to level and adjust the alignment of machines.

Must understand the metal removal process.

Must be able to use machine tool manuals technical documents and vendor resources to resolve issues.

Must have the ability to troubleshoot electronics and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Must be a self-motivative worker.

Additional Duties:

• Perform field service/repairs, installations, or PMs as required.
• Troubleshooting & repair of all makes & models of Machine Tools
• Resolve customer issues and provide sales support.
• Represent VMC Technologies Inc.; professionally and ethically at all times, with all actions in line with business expectations.
• Take ownership of all service cases, projects, etc., and maintain all customer records and technical documentation.

Field Service Engineer Principle Accountability:

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are types of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Potential candidates must be able to complete service calls and excel beyond that of our competitors. The Applicant must be able to manage Customer relationships coupled with improved satisfaction, and willing to be measured by such. Additionally, this individual must be organized, motivated, and a self-starter.

Field Service Engineer Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

A CNC technical background is required with a proven track record of no less than 5 years in machine repair desired. The ideal candidate would also have a working knowledge of Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls &/or Siemens & Heidenhain. Prior experience on the following machine tools and disciplines is a plus:

Hyundai Wia Machine Tool,Okuma, MAG, OKK, DMG/MORI, Heller, Hardinge, Makino, Mazak, Niiagata, FpT, Enshu, Fidia, Grob, TOS, Yasda, Brother, Mitsubishi, Fanuc, Matsuura, Etc

Ball-Bar Testing, 4th/5th Axis integrations,

Ladder Logic, Preventative Maintenance, Relay Logic, RS Logic, Laser Calibration

Field Service Engineer General Requirements:

Applicant should have a basic understanding of the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, and the Internet. Must have & maintain a valid driver’s license.

The standard work week is based on 40 hours with Overtime available with the Manager’s approval. Some overnight travel may be required.
