Job Purpose:

Under supervision of the Principal Research Scientist, the Research Scientist is responsible for carrying out research activities on banked human tissues in support of research and product development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Design research approaches for assigned projects including but not limited to performing background and literature searches, experimental design and execution, problem-solving, and writing up for publications or poster presentations.

2. Perform complex experiments and maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes, analyze and interpret research data.

3. Assist with new research proposals and applications for funding and grants as applicable.

4. Perform ongoing research and testing of developed products.

5. Develop quality control testing measures for developed products.

6. Responsible for the maintenance of all lab equipment and supplies, including development of protocols ensuring the proper use of lab equipment, ordering of needed lab supplies, and maintenance of viable cells.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (Master’s, PhD) in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Bioengineering or life sciences/health related field. 
• Previous experience in Human Tissue processing and characterization is preferred. 
• CTBS certified (or certified within two years of employment).
• Demonstrate excellent communication (both oral and written) skills and computer proficiency in software for data analysis.
• Able to design and execute experiments independently.
• Must have experience with tissue culture and biochemical assays (ELISA, Flow Cytometry, In-vitro Assays, ….).
• Must be able to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency.
• Work cooperatively in a laboratory setting and be willing to work occasional flexible hours as needed.

Working Conditions:

Job requires working in office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments. There will be evening and weekend work. Facility temperatures are maintained cool.

Physical Requirements:

Job is one where the incumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects, and do repetitive tasks with few breaks while executing research plans.
