POSITION DESCRIPTIONPOSITION TITLE: Activities AssociateREPORTS TO: Activities DirectorDEPARTMENT: AdministrationThe primary responsibility of your job position is to assist the Activities Director in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Activities Department following the current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern long term care and assisted living facilities. You are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist in developing, maintaining, evaluating, and directing the activity programsParticipate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the needs of the residents and their familyCoordinate activities with other departments as necessaryAssist in the scheduling of activity care plans and assessmentsObserve resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvementInvolve residents and family in planning facilities when necessaryAssist in arranging transportation when necessaryProvide daily activities for the residentPerform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc.Assist with admissions, MDS and discharge documentationServe on, participate in, and attend various committees of the facility as appointedRecommend to the Activity Director the equipment and supply needs of the activity departmentAssist in developing volunteer activity assignmentsMake routine visits to residents and perform assistance with crafts, projects, etc. as necessaryAssist in-room residents by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, making appointments etcDrives the company vehicle for resident outings, appointments, etc.; accompanies residents on trips outside of the communityDemonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, families, and visitorsPerform all other duties, as assignedTALENT:Relationship BuildingHave a caring attitude and sincere interest in othersDemonstrate friendliness and enthusiasmBuild relationships with all types of people InfluencingCommunicate effectively ExecutingSelf-directedAbility to organize and prioritizeAbility to exercise judgment and display understandingDetail oriented and follow through Strategic ThinkingSolve problems effectivelyCreative in coming up with options and varietyCuriosity and desire to learn SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:Google and Microsoft operating system platformsAdministrative and clerical procedures; customer serviceMust demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents servedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent On the job training providedJOB TRAINING: How long it usually takes to completely perform this job when the incumbent has the minimum knowledge, skills, abilities, work experience and/or education: up to 3 monthsWORK ENVIRONMENT:Works in all areas of the facility Moves intermittently during working hoursIs subject to frequent interruptionsIs involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etcCommunicates with the maintenance personnel, nursing staff, and other department supervisorsWorks beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessaryIs subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc.throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminantsIs subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B virusesMay be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicalsPHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facilityMust meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which includes a mental and physical examinationMust possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully metMust be able to push, pull, move, and /or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feetMay be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situationsOTHER:Must maintain a valid, unrestricted Colorado driver’s licenseProof of COVID vaccination or qualifying exemptionWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer, Gender/Minority/Veterans/Disabled.
