VITRO is Hiring an Occupational Health Nurse (Manufacturing) Near Carlisle, PA

Responsibilities

1. Provides all employees with immediate medical treatment for emergencies, injuries, or illness.

2. Uses professional nursing judgment in necessary treatments required for all injuries or illness. Makes recommendations and referrals to plant physician or personal physician when required. Ensures that proper treatment and care is given, documented and transportation is provided.

3. Communicates employee status and work restrictions to appropriate members of supervision.

4. Prepares all necessary medical documentation including, but not limited to the following: Vitro Injury Accident Report, treatment log, OSHA log, employee medical/injury records, worker's compensation records, and updated list of employees off work due to Salary Continuation, Workers Compensation and Long Term Disability.

5. Administer the Worker's Compensation program by completing the proper reports and forms.

6. Keep records of Work Related injury/illness lost work days. Ensure that proper medical release is provided to return to work, or forms for work restrictions provided. Schedule return to work physicals.

7. Document all short term disability (STD) forms. Prepare weekly STD report of all employees on medical leave. Keep individual STD reports/records including period of leave, diagnosis, treating physician, expected return work date.

8. Prepare weekly restricted duty report. Process and document requests for restricted duty. Ensure forms are completed by authorized physician and verify restrictions if needed. Schedule reassessments of restrictions as appropriate.

9. Conduct on-going audio metric testing, documenting and discussing results with the employees. Schedule retests as needed, also schedule appointments with plant physician and otolaryngologist when permanent STS occurs. Enter audio results into G.O. computer. Do daily calibration and record semi-annual calibrations. Attend school to be certified to do audio grams and repeat every 5 years to remain certified.

10. Issue ear plugs on request and instruct employee on proper use and fit of ear plugs and muffs. Maintain a supply of plugs and muffs.

11. Schedule pre-placement physical exams and exit physical exams by request. Assist employees in updating their medical history as required (recall from layoff, etc.).

12. Assist plant physician during plant clinic visits by scheduling employees to be seen. Follow up on cases as needed. Schedule appointments with specialists when referrals made by plant physician. Carry out plant physician orders.

13. Maintain all medical records in a confidential manner. Update records with all status changes. Responsible for retaining all records in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations. Maintain log of medical history file review requests. Make and send copies of medical records and X-rays on request of employee.

14. Maintain adequate stock of authorized medical supplies and personal protective equipment for Blood Borne Pathogens. Distribute some personal protective equipment and instruct on proper use.

15. Provide referral service for employees and recommend sources for assistance in medical, psychological, and drug related problems.

16. Perform necessary tasks relative to physical examinations including taking medical history, scheduling, exams, testing hearing & vision, blood glucose, reviewing medical classifications, etc.

17. Maintain the respirator program. Keep supply of respirators and filters. Do fit testing when needed. Distribute and clean and store respirators. Schedule all employees to go through the annual Medical Surveillance program as required by job and schedule for hands on physicals by a physician. Maintain list of approved employees to wear respirators. Be qualified to complete Pulmonary Function Tests and administer EKG. Do medical surveillance blood, urinalysis, occult blood and pulmonary function test. Input into computer as required.

18. Schedule bi-annual laser eye exams and maintain the records.

19. Conduct drug screens per current Vitro Drug Testing Plans.

20. Be courteous and friendly in all relations with employees. Have routine contact with all employees, including supervision, salaried staff, plant physician, lawyers, visitors, suppliers, contractors.

21. Coordinate and teach CPR classes for employees and their families. Speak at safety crew meetings when asked.

22. Administer the safety glasses program for all employees.

Qualifications

1. Must have a license to practice nursing in PA (Minimum LVN).2. Must maintain current CPR training.3. Must have basic computer skills.4. Must possess the ability to interact well with people at all levels.5. Must be neat and clean in appearance.6. Must uphold confidentiality of medical information and records.7. Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
