Vitamix is seeking a Safety Specialist who will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the overall safety program and safety processes for all departments within the organization. The Specialist ensures program compliance and assists in the administration of organizational workers’ compensation claims. The successful candidate will have experience working in an environmental health and safety role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates safety programs, projects, policies, and procedures designed to reduce occupational and non-occupational accident/injury/illness experiences and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Provides administrative support for the day-to-day operations of the worker’s compensation program in accordance with all applicable regulations.
  • Performs timely accident investigations and ensures corrective actions are completed to eliminate or minimize potential hazards.
  • Promotes health and safety awareness throughout the organization through effective employee communications, participation, programming, and training.
  • Facilitates employee involvement in developing, implementing, and revising safety and health procedures.
  • Participates in, coordinates, and supports the organization’s safety meetings.
  • Tracks all safety issues by utilizing workplace incident tracking software through closure of incident.
  • Serves as point of contact for annual customer audits of safety practices.
  • Coordinates drills, performs site inspections, and develops timely written survey reports with recommendations for corrective actions as appropriate and follows through the execution of those changes.
  • Measures safety performance, identifies key injury and/or safety trends, and communicates these to management teams with recommendations for improvement.
  • Identifies, interprets, and implements federal, state, and local OSHA safety regulations and/or standards that pertain to the organization’s operations. Monitors OSHA regulatory requirements and communicates potential impacts to operations.

The ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Previous experience using workplace incident tracking software
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA and Workers Compensation regulations and standards (multi-state)
  • Possesses dynamic presentation skills for communication to external organizations and groups as needed, on employment or Company topics. Must have experience making effective presentations to large and varied groups.
  • High level of corporate professionalism, maturity and political savvy.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, plus the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships (both internally and externally), and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization.
  • Able to professionally execute projects with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing and growing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, understand, and drive resolution of complex critical issues.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and manage complex projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Business, or related field
  • 1 year progressive Health & Safety experience
