BEHAVIORAL HEALTH RESPITE PROVIDER Level 2 - CAREGIVER
Primarily Weekend Shifts

Specialized Pediatric/Adolescent Behavioral Health Respite Provider Needed

Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

VitalCare is honored to be providing behavioral health respite care to families across the Front range.

We are currently seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Specialist or paraprofessional for 1:1 care for pediatric and young adult clients. The Behavioral Health Specialist is responsible for personal care and safety including supervision and management of children and adolescents in their homes and in the community. These clients require support with personal care tasks and maintaining safety in their home environment.

This candidate would have a strong working knowledge of behavioral health in the adolescent population and education in appropriate field is preferred (equivalent work experience will be reviewed).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist with activities of daily living. Activities may include skin care, ambulation, bathing, dressing, exercise, hair care, oral care, bladder and bowel care.

· Provide companionship in the form of conversation, emotional reassurance, and coordination of mentally stimulating activities.

· Possess a deep understanding of delineation of care worker roles. Be able to quickly identify scenarios that call for more skilled care or medical treatment.

· Attend periodic educational sessions (normally 6 sessions per year).

· Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· At least 18 years of age.

· Experience in behavioral health caregiving

. Bachelor’s degree with a minor in psychology or related field

. Professional relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.

· Able to communicate and understand communication effectively in exchanges between the client, family representatives, and other providers.

· Successful completion of a written competency exam related to the agency PCW training course.

· Availability for the following hours: Evening and weekend availability required. Weekday shifts are available.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model

· Working knowledge of principles and procedures for personal care in a home setting.

· Comfort in dealing with sensitive family issues and issues related to healthcare process.

· Working knowledge of nutrition and food service.

· Conscientious, observant, and proactive. We want you to carefully document your services and report any changes in the client’s health.

· Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing.

· Easily establishes rapport with managers, clients, families, and colleagues.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

· Knowledge or experience working with children and adolescents with behavioral health diagnoses such as generalized anxiety disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, PTSD, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder preferred.

· Working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) skills and techniques is desired.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.50 - $22.50 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
