Vista Unified School District is Hiring a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Near Vista, CA

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional certified in behavior analysis. RBTs assist in delivering behavior-analytic services and practice under the direction and close supervision of a certificated team member that holds a BCBA certification, who are responsible for all work RBTs perform. RBTs work with students who demonstrate behavior that impacts their education and are supported via an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Support services include student observations and consultation with a certificated team member that holds a BCBA certification.

This job reports to an assigned administrator.

Essential Functions

  • Assists teachers and provides one-to-one direct services to students with behavior

challenges in the school setting to reinforce and enhance various learning activities.

  • Prepares learning materials.
  • Demonstrates and models learning and appropriate social behaviors.
  • Supports students in building skills that enable them to access classroom or teaching routines.
  • Record and document student behavior.
  • Maintains consistent behavioral management as established by the classroom teacher.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information related to students.
  • Utilizes skills of Crisis Prevention Institute training, which may require physical intervention of aggressive students for safety of the student and others.
  • Collaborates, models, shares, and supports additional school site Instructional Assistants to implement individual support as determined by the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team.
  • Models the use of specific curriculum such as: Pictures Exchange in Communication Systems, Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children, and Social Stories to classroom staff.
  • Gathers, compiles, and prepares data on challenging behaviors and skill acquisition.
  • Collaborates with staff in the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

  • Follows and implements BIPs and (MTSS) strategies and techniques for behavior reduction, and provides feedback (data, documentation, and observations) to school site personnel.
  • Assists certificated staff in preparing, creating, and modifying child-specific curriculum and materials under the direction of the teacher and/or BCBA.
  • Supports school staff with implementation of behavior plans, strategies and techniques.
  • Shares, collaborates and models social skills strategies with small groups at their

assigned site under the direction of the IEP team.

  • Responds quickly to “crisis” situations at their assigned site, which includes stepping in to support a child who is experiencing a crisis.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.10 - $24.39 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
