Vista Grande Villa is seeking passionate individuals that would oversee infection prevention in our skilled nursing facility. The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for the development, direction, implementation, management and operation of infection prevention in the long-term care facility. Infection Preventionist will work to identify, investigate, monitor, track and report infections and communicable diseases in the skilled nursing facility. The IP collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and other individuals to create, educate, and sustain infection prevention strategies, as well as provide feedback. Infection Preventionist conducts ongoing staff development, training and quality assurance performance improvement monitoring to ensure adherence with the organizational standards, professional guidelines, state, and federal regulations.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Development and implementation of infection prevention goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.

· Conducting ongoing review of facility policies, procedures, and guidelines to identify infection prevention discrepancies and implement revisions as necessary.

· Ensuring that the infection prevention program goals are compatible with state of Michigan regulation and enhance the facility’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.

· Providing information to facility committees and department managers to formulate changes in the policies, procedures, and/or processes which could reduce the spread of infection.

· Interacting with medical and nursing staff, department managers, supervisors, and employee health (occupational health) and other professional/non-professional staff members to provide resource information, resolve infection prevention and control issues, and identify new opportunities to improve services and reduce cost.

· Working with department managers to apply effective policies and procedures for the facility that ensures compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), CDC, CMS and other local, county, state, and federal regulatory and/or accrediting agencies

· Developing reports and statistical data for the QAPI program and Infection Control Committee.

· Developing and coordinating the infection prevention program throughout the facility; implementing the program by formulating, establishing, and evaluating policies and procedures related to patient care infection prevention measures throughout the facility.

· Performing an annual risk assessment and developing action plans from the prior year’s activities, which may include development of a dashboard to maintain monthly data

· Frequently completing Environmental rounds and using those results to improve processes as needed.

· Working with employee health in monitoring work-related exposures

· Staying up to date on Infection Control standard practice and changes to guidance with regard to state regulation.

Candidate must have the following minimum qualifications:

Must be willing to complete Infection Preventionist Training and certification through online courses via the CDC website upon hire.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Registered nurse with a current license in Michigan.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Great organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks well.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $75,000.00 per year
