Home Health Nurse Educator.

At the VNA Health Group, we see Education as a competitive advantage. Our Clinical Education Department seeks a Home Health Nurse Educator to keep those competitive fires ignited and to prepare our clinical teams for the challenges of the field - now and in the future.
The Home Health Nurse Educator is responsible for providing orientation, clinical training, continuing education, and development for nursing and other clinical staff. Work in conjunction with managers, staff, and members of the healthcare team to evaluate and implement evidence-based trainings and in-services to meet state and federal guidelines and to promote change.
Responsibilities:
The core responsibilities for the Home Health Nurse Educator are:
  • Learns the objectives of the department and develops strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional partners.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains clinical orientation, new hire schedules, ongoing staff education, and annual competencies organization-wide for staff and managers.
  • Creates and implements clinical education for new hires and existing clinical staff.
  • Participates/presents in Preceptor Workshop training.
  • Participates/presents in Field Manager and Preceptor quarterly meetings.
  • Tracks New Hire and Preceptor class and competency completions.
  • Enrolls staff in required classes and training as indicated.
  • Supports Preceptors and new and existing employees with skills lab training as needed.
  • May require field supervisory visits of new hires and existing employees for skills attainment and refreshers as needed.
  • Participates in ANCC Nurse Planner responsibilities and supports the Accredited Provider Program Director with the CE program.
  • Serves as a resource for staff on practice issues and the online education center, HealthStream.
  • Assists Director of Clinical Education with managing clinical rotation placements and clinical hour tracking.
  • Serves as a practicum/clinical mentor for BSN and MSN students and other disciplines as required.
  • Promotes certification attainment for staff and managers.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of clinical competencies for all clinical staff.
  • Participates in the review and development of patient education materials.
  • Serves a member of the Interdisciplinary Clinical Practice Council (IDCPC).
  • Assists in identifying and developing online educational programs for all staff.
  • Provides ongoing education and updates of education curricula.
  • Updates Clinical Education class schedules on the intranet as needed.
  • Maintains and updates CPR training and schedules. Coordinates with CPR instructors as needed.
  • Maintains and revises Briggs Procedure Manual as needed.
  • Assists Employee Health department with vaccine clinics, vaccine compliance, and other needs as indicated.
  • Partners with HR organization to provide excellent employee experience and compassionate care
  • Collaborates with Quality to present outcome based programs.
  • Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Home Health Nurse Educator position will have the following qualifications:
  • BSN required. Master’s degree preferred
  • 3 years of home health experience preferred
  • 3 years of experience as a Clinical Educator preferred
  • Knowledge of OASIS preferred
  • Knowledge of HomeCareHomeBase/ Point Care a plus
  • Excellent teaching and computer skills
  • Strong organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills
