POSITION PURPOSE: The On-Call Caregiver must be a Certified Nursing Assistant or have equivalent experience and will provide non-medical home care services for our clients. Including personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, errands, shopping, transportation and companionship on an on-call basis. The on-call caregiver will give us availability and fulfill on-call hours. The on-call caregiver will report directly to the client care manager.

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-exempt

HOURS OF WORK: On-call hours are between 8 am-8 pm, Sunday through Wednesday. Visiting Angels will guarantee full-time pay for 40 hours a week of which the On-Call Caregiver must be available during those hours to pick up last minute emergency shifts , call-offs or shifts as assigned.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Serve as emergency caregiver to staff late caregiver call-offs or temporary fill-ins until a replacement can be found. Must be available by 8 am and be willing to cover a split shift or full 12-hour shift. Must be available 4 days a week.
• Demonstrate high level of conflict management, judgement making, communication and dependability as a reflection of the office team.
• Working knowledge and use of equipment using a gait belt, sit-to-stand, hoyer lift, and perineal care.
• Compassion, patience, and commitment towards our clients, caregivers, and other office staff.
• Report all client's incidents/accidents to the Client Care Manager immediately.
• Exhibit positive attitude and behavior and demonstrate respect for clients.
• Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining client and their families.
• Respond to a caregiving request within 10-15 minutes. Be able to travel within the Visiting Angels territory.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, car insurance and registration. The On-Call Caregiver will use their own car to cover our territory which is the Omaha metro area. Reimbursement for mileage is included between shifts and any errands ran for the client in the caregiver's own vehicle.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Certified Nursing Assistant
• Must be eighteen (19) years of age
• Ability to remain flexible
• Ability to lawfully work in the U.S.
• Previous experience in home care preferred
• Ability to listen and communicate clearly
• Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm and maintain a sense of humor, and present a well-groomed professional image.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
• All of the above demands are subject to ADA requirements.
