General Description
Under the direct supervision of the Homeownership Center and Education Manager, the Housing Counselor has a passion for helping people and is responsible for conducting homebuyer education workshops, housing counseling, credit counseling, and foreclosure prevention counseling. The position requires Saturday and evening hours, and the use of independent judgment and decision-making skills.
Essential Functions
· Coordinate and conduct homebuyer and homeowner education workshops
· Meet individually with homebuyers and homeowners to provide education and guidance
· Analyze individual homebuyer and homeowner situations
· Prepare individual action plans for homebuyers and homeowners
· Provide individualized credit counseling
· Build and maintain professional relationships in the field
· Participate in marketing necessary to advertise programs and services
· Maintain current, relevant information about available products
· Maintain data in online reporting system
· Maintain accurate, detailed program logs
· Offer ideas or suggestions to expand the curriculum and grow the program
· Other duties as assigned
Job Qualification Requirements
Knowledge & Experience:
· Good working knowledge of the components of a housing counseling program
· Good working knowledge of the home buying and foreclosure processes
· Knowledge of the housing market and potential obstacles to homeownership
· Knowledge of lending products and home buying assistance programs
· Ability to review and compare financial information
· Ability to work with others in establishing and meeting goals and objectives
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
· Ability to communicate effectively and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experience
· Skilled in organizing time and prioritizing work load.
Education:
· A Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, or related study OR
· At least two (2) years of experience in real estate, lending or related field AND
· Two (2) years of experience working with people in need of assistance OR
· An equivalent combination of training and experience
Equipment and Software:
· Computer with Internet and email capabilities
· Presentation and Projection equipment
· Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Counselor Max
· Google Apps products (email, calendar, docs, etc.)

Pay: $24.00 - $29.84 per hour
