Vision Integrated Partners is Hiring an Optician Near Chesterfield, MO

At West County Ophthalmology we are looking for an Optician to join our growing team! Our team works very closely together, so ability to work well with others, eagerness to learn and a focus on patient care is key.
Little to no experience? That's okay, we will teach you everything you need to know ON THE JOB!

The Optician assists the patient with the selection and purchase of eyewear as well as the adjustment and dispensation of the patient eyewear, maintains inventory control and ensures the proper documentation of optical records (both paper and electronic), and ensures a prescription capture rate in the practice of 75% or greater.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Answers all questions correctly and effectively that are related to optical issues
  2. Greets all patients in a warm and friendly manner
  3. Provides routine cleaning and adjustment services for patients entering into the practice
  4. Educates and assists with the selection of eyewear that is available in the optical department
  5. Orders jobs from labs according to practice protocols
  6. Checks-in and documents all incoming jobs orders correctly
  7. Collects a 50% deposit from all patients on all optical orders
  8. Notifies the patient in a timely manner when their order is ready to be dispensed
  9. Ensures all optical boards and surrounding areas are clean and well stocked at all times
  10. Completes all necessary paperwork efficiently and accurately to document sales and patient activities
  11. Ensures the highest level of customer service and patient satisfaction
  12. Processes all incoming and outgoing deliveries for FedEx, UPS, etc.
  13. Ensures a prescription capture rate of 75% or greater for the practice
  14. Assist the Office Manager in observing employee's performance, coaching and encouraging
  15. Assists in training team members
  16. Works with the manager to ensure comprehensive completion of all operational tasks
  17. Informs all VIP staff of available products, upcoming sales and/or specials
  18. Professional and Personal Development/Goals and Objectives
  19. Exhibits professional demeanor with a positive enthusiastic attitude at all times when representing the practice
  20. Maintains certification, where applicable, and continues to improve skills. Must attend all in-services and webinar training seminars as directed by Management
  21. Sets goals and objectives for professional growth. Reviews and revises goals on an ongoing basis
  22. Provides input on how to improve customer service, decrease costs and increase revenues for the optical department

  24. Supports the practice core values and mission statement to develop, enhance and promote quality customer service through team effort
  25. Exhibits flexibility, sensitivity and respect while maintaining an effective working relationship with all team members
20. Maintains practice confidentiality, follows HIPAA guidelines and follows the rules and regulations of the practice as documented in the practice employee manual
21. Maintains proper standards of productivity as defined by management
22. Completes any additional tasks and responsibilities as noted in the pay for performance program
23. Assumes other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current optician license required
  • Associates or Bachelor Degree in Marketing or related field preferred
  • Two years of experience as an optician in a busy practice required

  • Must have proficient computer skills
  • Must be able to problem solve
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Must have a working knowledge of post-operative Medicare, Medicare Replacement and Medicaid plans
  • Must have excellent communication skills, proper grammar and writing capability
  • Must be team-oriented
  • Must be self-directed, highly motivated, able to multi-task, work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to accurately and efficiently handle multiple projects at one time
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a caring, patient and friendly attitude
  • Must be familiar with all forms associated with the patient's medical record (paper / electronic)
  • Must be familiar with the use and operation of optical software
  • Must be completely knowledgeable with lenses, frames and all optical supplies
  • Must have a comkplete understanding of optical inventory
  • Must have outstanding sales ability
  • Wide-ranging knowledge applicable to eye care and current trends in eyewear
  • Must have experience in conflict resolution
