At Advanced Surgery Center we are seeking a Part-Time Medical Assistant/Sterile Processing Technician within our Sterile Processing Department. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or in ophthalmology, optometry, or medical practice. Candidate should be able to multi-task, be self-motivated, be patient-oriented, and be extremely dependable. Must also work well with others.

Some responsibilities include:

• Able to communicate and greet all patients and answer incoming calls
• Create, prepare, and file patient charts
• Intra-operative- assist in transporting patients to the operating room, positioning patients, pouring fluids and autoclave OR instruments
• Recovery- assist with the discharge process, obtain vital signs, and transport the patient outside to their car
• Established procedures for receiving, decontaminating, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing medical equipment are strictly followed.
• Responsible for decontaminating and sterilizing instruments, medical supplies, and equipment; and also, for assembling wraps and sterilizing trays of instruments.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Overtime may be required based on business needs.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

(Experience, Skills, and Education):

• Must be well-organized and have the ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• Have excellent computer skills
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and team members.
• Must uphold to the highest ethical principles of maintaining the confidentiality and other performance standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred
• Experience in the medical field with patients
• Experience as a Sterile Processing Department technician preferred
• Medical Assistant Certified (preferred)
• SPD Tech experience (Preferred)
• Willing to teach/train for this role
