Vision Government Solutions is Hiring a Software Development Manager Near Findlay, OH

About Us:
Vision Government Solutions is a leading software & services company providing cutting-edge property tax and appraisal software to more than 500 Towns, Cities, and Counties across the United States. Vision is at an incredible inflection point of growth and has been rapidly adding clients to our community. We are looking for exceptional individuals to join our Software Implementation team to help us welcome those new clients through successful data conversions from their legacy software to our modern, feature-rich Vision solution.

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Development Manager will oversee a six-person team responsible for enhancing and maintaining mass appraisal and property tax systems and onboarding new customers to our platforms.

This job is for you if you are adept at leading software development teams and managing cross-functional alignment sessions based on development plans and progress. Managing the entire SLDC for the team, you will engage in all aspects of Pre-Build (requirements definition and technical design), Build (development prioritization, resource assignments, code management, testing) and Post-Build (release coordination and execution). The systems this team supports are core to our business so many other functions schedule project plans around the roadmap this our team maintains. Therefore an important part of this role is maintaining artifacts that outline our plans and timelines of execution, what is being worked on, and progress updates, so that our partner organizations can stay aligned with us and vice versa.

Occasionally you will also be asked to engage directly with customers to support them, gather requirements, or to do Voice-of-the-Customer feedback sessions.

We are a small organization with big aspirations! As a result, this is a fast-paced job where no one day looks like another. We have an established Product Development team, but our fast-growing business is presenting us with wonderfully new and gnarly challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

· Build and maintain a development roadmap schedule based on inputs from other functional teams and business needs. Track team progress against the roadmap and actively manage cross-functional communications on status.

· Manage software developers' day-to-day work. This includes assignments and capacity planning to ensure balanced workloads.

· Conduct backlog grooming sessions and curate the product backlog for multiple software systems, in collaboration with the Director of Design and Support Analysts.

· Coordinate technical design review meetings and technical grooming sessions to plan and estimate development work, in collaboration with the Principal Developer.

· Define and enforce coding standards for efficient, readable, maintainable code and perform code reviews to ensure adherence to standards.

· Collaborate with the Principal Developer to manage source code branches and relevant source management policies.

· Oversee and perform testing to ensure software quality.

· Coordinate timing and scope of software releases and prepare release notes.

· Conduct semi-annual performance reviews for the team.

· Promote forward-thinking approach to software development and encourage professional development.

· Foster communication and process efficiency through administration of Microsoft Teams and Azure DevOps.

· Manage relationships with third party organizations for multiple data integrations.

Professional Experience that can help you succeed in this role:

Can you believe that Woolly Mammoths were still alive when tax bills were first issued? Taxation has existed in various forms since civilization began! The earliest known tax records, dating from approximately six thousand years B.C., were in the form of clay tablets found in the ancient city-state of Lagash, which is in modern day Iraq.

It’s amazing, but true! Leading a digital transformation in an industry with that level of maturity requires more than just technical aptitude. It takes creativity, patience, and persistence! Nevertheless, it certainly doesn’t hurt to have a wealth of experience. Below is a list of experiences that would help you succeed in this role. It’s okay if you don’t meet each item if you are willing to dig into the challenges and learn fast!
