Woman owned Optometric practice on Main street in Newark, DE. This is the heart of our town, just steps away from the University of Delaware. Newark is positioned roughly halfway between Philadelphia and Baltimore: less than a mile south of where DE, MD and PA intersect. This location has a perfect small town, tax free atmosphere, with easy access to both large metropolitan and beach area.

The Optometric Technician full time position task set includes office administration such as appointment scheduling and insurance verification up to and including light cleaning. Importantly, our techs gather clinical ocular data for the doctor prior to exams in order to ensure an accurate and connected exam using our state-of-the-art equipment. The position also includes a sales role in providing contact lenses to our patients. No weekend hours!

Job Responsibilities

• Creating exams, working up patients including auto refracting, blood pressure, visual acuities, cleaning instruments and putting RX in phoropter.
• Teach patients about contacts lenses, how to wear and proper cleaning. Ordering contacts and follow-up appts.
• Ordering products for the practice.
• Fax documents, answer phones and schedule patients.
• Do Special Testing; OCT, VF, Photos

Job Requirements

• Must have medical office experience and detailed resume required with references
• Soft skills required
• Computer skills, 40 wpm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No weekends
