VISCO Transportation Corporation is Hiring a Concrete Crew Leader for Road Construction and Maintenance Crew Near Raleigh, NC

Concrete Crew Leader - $32/ hour - IMMEDIATE OPENING

Visco Corporation specializes in providing a range of transportation services to public agencies and private corporations. We put our employees first to ensure a team-oriented workplace. We have an immediate opening for an experienced concrete crew leader to join our highway construction and maintenance operations.

$32.00/hour - NO BENEFITS

Work includes managing a small crew to prepare job sites for the installation, repair and maintenance of concrete by prioritizing projects, assigning work tasks, operating equipment, using hand tools, maintaining records, monitoring work quality and work schedules while insuring crew safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Proficiently read blueprints
  • Effectively delegate tasks to subordinates providing clear directions in a professional and courteous manner
  • Communicate complex information
  • Ability to successfully execute prepping, pouring, finishing and installing concrete.
  • Comprehensive understanding of NCDOT industry standards and the ability to apply knowledge in field operations
  • Proficiently plan supplies and materials required for job assignment including, but not limited to, identifying material quantities, tools, supplies and equipment required for each phase of job completion
  • Manage the performance and work quality of subordinates to ensure positive outcomes including Identifying, documenting, and implementing corrective action and training to promote the success and professional development of employees.
  • Proficiently operate required tools and equipment (e.g. skid steer, excavator, hand tools) to prepare job sites for the installation, repair and maintenance of concrete.
  • Confirm pre/post trip inspections of all equipment is performed daily; report items in disrepair through established process
  • Load and unload construction materials and equipment
  • Direct the general cleanup of work areas to maintain a safe and organized environment
  • Follow and ensure subordinates follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ensure correct work zone set up and break down are performed by crew
  • Monitor attendance and work hours of subordinates

Requirements:

Applicants who do not meet all of the minimum requirements will not be considered

  • Minimum of three years of recent, verifiable concrete experience in a leadership or supervisory position OR minimum of five years of experience as a concrete finisher with experience with blueprint reading, concrete finishing and managing crews
  • Detailed knowledge of DOT construction procedures and OSHA guidelines
  • Experience with proficiently operating an excavator and or skid steer including loading for transport and unloading.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and have attention to detail.
  • Must be able to listen carefully and effectively convey information.
  • Must have
  • CDL license holders must not be prohibited and have no at fault accidents in a commercial vehicle
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from jobsites; no take home vehicles
