Company: Virtus Healthcare Staffing is searching for a Registered Nurse - PACU on behalf of our esteemed partner, a Level III trauma center located in Fort Mohave, AZ.
Job Description: As a Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients recovering from anesthesia. You will be responsible for monitoring patients' vital signs, managing pain, assessing their condition post-surgery, and ensuring their safe transition from the operating room to the recovery room. This position requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients post-surgery and assess their condition, including vital signs, pain levels, and neurological status.
- Provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Collaborate with the surgical team, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, including pain management techniques, wound care, and potential complications.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic medical record system.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the PACU, adhering to infection control standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities to enhance patient outcomes and nursing practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Active Arizona or Compact RN license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an acute emergency room setting required.
- 2 or more years of experience in an acute PACU unit required.
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
