About The OpportunityThis is an exceptional opportunity for a highly qualified Laboratory Director to play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and innovation of a Level I Trauma Hospital's laboratory services. You will provide strategic leadership and oversight, fostering a collaborative environment that delivers exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the hospital laboratory, including clinical, anatomic pathology, and blood banking.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive laboratory policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs in accordance with CLIA and The Joint Commission standards.
- Ensure the laboratory operates efficiently and effectively, meeting all regulatory requirements and budget goals.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing laboratory team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in laboratory medicine and implement new technologies to enhance testing capabilities and patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and optimal treatment plans.
- Participate in hospital committees and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related Health Science Specialty that meets CLIA requirements for General Supervisor.
- Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Allied Health Specialty or Health Administration/Business.
- Minimum Experience:
- Medical Technologist with a minimum of 5 years of progressive supervisory/management experience in a complex laboratory setting, preferably within a hospital environment.
- Preferred Experience: Prior Laboratory Director experience is a strong plus.
- Required Certifications/Licensure:
- Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent board certification.
- Current Arizona State Licensure as a Medical Technologist (MT) or a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
- Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven track record of success in achieving operational excellence and quality improvement initiatives.
- Commitment to patient safety and providing high-quality laboratory services.
- Proficient in laboratory information systems (LIS) and relevant laboratory software.
