Position:

The primary responsibility of the Hotel Bookkeeper is managing accounts payable, sales and occupancy tax processing, and assisting the Corporate Controller with month-end processing and closing. Also, this position will be responsible for the administration, training, support, and ensuring the accountability of General Managers and Assistant General Managers regarding property-level accounting duties.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in bookkeeping, accounting, business administration (preferably hospitality), or equivalent hotel accounting experience.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills - including Microsoft 365 and QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel.
  • Working knowledge of hotel PMS including Choice Advantage, Lightspeed, Opera, etc.
  • Advanced critical thinking skills and an eye for detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision, or in a group setting.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precise attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Full-time position with expectation of flexibility to extend work hours as necessary to meet deadlines.

Compensation: $22-$25/hr based on experience plus a robust benefits package.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

Accounts Payable

  • Audit invoices for coding and calculation errors
  • Enter invoices and credit card charges, detailing items purchases and services performed
  • Balance vendor invoices identifying missing invoices
  • Communicate changes in coding and calculation, missing invoices, and other AP related information with GM’s.
  • Scan and file invoices and credit card reconciliations
  • Complete vendor credit applications
  • Vendor management (w-9’s; COI; account updates)
  • Audit and process year end 1099’s

Sales & Occupancy Tax

  • Balance revenues
  • Update MISC income memos
  • Audit tax exempt workbooks
  • Complete preliminary tax returns

Month End

  • Enter payroll journals
  • Detail payroll deductions
  • Reconcile payroll deductions
  • Enter franchise invoices
  • Calculate and enter payroll accruals
  • Enter and balance dtf accounts
  • Update labor calculations
  • Review expense detail reports for missing data and errors

Administration

  • Writing and maintaining all accounting SOP’s in collaboration with leadership
  • Creating and/or maintaining all accounting workbooks (checkbook; budget; budcast; revenue adjustments; sales tax exemptions; misc income; sales tax returns; etc)
  • Contracts/renewals
  • Scanning/filing
  • Assist with budgeting process
  • Misc projects

Training/Support/Accountability

  • Train new GM’s and AGM’s on accounting processes
  • Supporting new and existing GM’s and AGM’s on accounting processes
  • Performing property and checklist audits

Accounts Receivable

  • Oversee AR
  • Write and review AR processes
  • Train GM’s and AGM’s how to reconcile AR payments and update reconciliation
  • Audit AR and ledgers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
