Virguez Law is Hiring a Bilingual Immigration Legal Assistant Near Duluth, GA

Virguez Law is seeking a highly organized, detail oriented, and friendly Immigration Legal Assistant to fit into our dynamic firm. We operate in a growing, fast paced, and demanding environment which requires mutual respect, teamwork, patience, and understanding with each other and our clients! Our immigration team handles USCIS, Removal Defense, and Humanitarian Relief cases that affect the lives of individuals and families, which means that this individual must understand the importance of fine details and accuracy in all that they do.

For consideration: Must be bilingual and fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English and Spanish.

NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE! 

Under the supervision of a licensed or accredited legal practitioner, the Immigration Legal Assistant will:

  • Accurately manage and own the department calendar for all Immigration Hearings.
  • Set court dates and deadlines in the appropriate channels.
  • Prepare cases for master calendar hearings.
  • Submit timely entries of appearance, motions, and other filings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date physical and electronic files with detailed case notes, in a timely manner while meeting all case reporting requirements within established timelines, standards, and statutes.
  • Communicate with clients and provide their court information in a timely manner. Ensure they have the correct Court address or our office address, and immediately inform them of any court date/location changes or cancellations. 
  • Meet/Communicate with clients to collect documents, information, and to schedule appointments.
  • Keep record of all client communications, filings, and case developments. 
  • Prepare and file Pleadings.
  • Prepare PD Requests.
  • File Changes of Address to immigration court and USCIS. 
  • Provide letters to clients as needed.
  • Print, make copies, file documents as needed.
  • Assist attorneys and paralegals in all cases as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working within an Immigration Department or either a bachelors degree or paralegal certificate with little to no immigration experience.
  • Highly motivated and fast learner.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook/Calendar, and the Internet.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, plus professional telephone and email etiquette are a must.
  • Filevine software knowledge a plus.

  • Normal business hours are Mon - Fri, 8-5 with occasional and minimal overtime.
