VIRGINIA INDUSTRIES INC is Hiring a Dip Tank Operator Near Culpeper, VA

Summary

Be able to use appropriate equipment to dip castings to specifications. These duties are to be performed within safety, quality, and production standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned that pertain to this classification.

  • Examine castings visually or with hands, in order to ensure conformance to established standards.
  • Load materials into dip baskets.
  • Safely lower basket into tank to dip castings and assure all items in the dip basket are painted
  • Move controls to start, stop, lower, and raise the hoist.
  • Observe operation of equipment to ensure continuity of flow, safety, and efficient operation, and to detect malfunctions.
  • Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas, using moving equipment.
  • Notify supervisor of any issues and/or needed repairs.
  • Clean work areas.

Knowledge:

  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.

Skills:

  • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Quality Control Analysis - Conducting inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Communication - Able to convey information effectively.
  • Time Management - Managing one's own time.

Abilities:

  • Manual Dexterity - The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Arm-Hand Steadiness - The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Multi-limb Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while standing. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
  • Rate Control - The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object or scene.
  • Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Reaction Time - The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.

Standing, stooping and squatting can be expected along with repetitive lifting or with other means transfer of tooling, parts, containers and raw materials weighing up to 70 pounds. Primary environment: Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. Industrial lighting provided.
