The Resident Care Coordinator reports to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for administering medications and assessing/evaluating assigned residents. This person is the Staff Member in Charge when working.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete the resident ISP’s and UAI’s
• Performs medication pass in an efficient manner and in accordance with the medical plan of care.
• Completes review of Physician Order Sheet with MAR/TAR for accuracy.
• Reviews medication administration documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintains medication carts in neat and organized manner.
• Performs treatments and lab test as designated.
• Monitors and maintains systems as assigned by the Director of Nursing/designee.
• Must stay awake at all times while on duty.
• Must be capable of protecting the physical and mental wellbeing of the residents.
• Must be able to carry out the necessary policies and procedures in the case of emergencies.
• Assumes duties of the charge nurse in their absence.
• Assumes duties at any Virginia Health Services unit/facility as required.
• Promotes and demonstrates positive customer service towards VHS, co-workers, residents and visitors.
• Ensures that the health care service needs of each resident are met
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and holds current Virginia license.
• Experience/education in Gerontological Nursing preferred.
• Computer knowledge preferred.
• Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information.
• While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, turn, bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, taste and smell.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 pounds.
• Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous materials
