Registered Dietitian

Virginia Health Services is hiring a Registered Dietitian, located in Newport News, VA!

The Registered Dietitian will function as an internal consultant advising the Dietary Departments of VHS facilities to ensure that patients' nutritional needs are addressed through proper food production, preparation, and delivery systems in accordance with the standards of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) under the direction of the Senior Vice President/designee. Advises and instructs VHS Dietary Department managers and staff to ensure the patients' nutritional health and welfare are addressed and safeguarded in accordance with local, state and federal nursing home regulations and the guidelines of the American Dietetic Association.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses patients' nutritional status upon admission and as required.
  • Addresses patients' nutritional needs and develops treatment plans.
  • Consults with patient and/or responsible party to address nutritional status and plans for treatment.
  • Participates in the management of food acquisition, production, preparation and delivery to ensure maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Attends and participates in committee responsibilities as assigned.
  • Promote and demonstrates positive customer service towards VHS, co-workers,residents and visitors.
  • Complies with all established policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Health or equivalent field.
  • Registered Dietitian (R.D).
  • Computer experience required.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, walk and travel between facilities.
  • Thirty day working notice is required for voluntary termination of employment.
