Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. **ESH invites applications for the position of a Security Officer III .**

The Security Officer III serves to provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors at ESH by maintaining adequate coverage in order for the Public Safety Department to fulfill its mission statement at Eastern State Hospital.

**Offering a $3,000 Sign-On Bonus with a one-year written agreement.**

Each officer is sworn by the Court of James City County and is fully empowered to make an arrest for any state and local violation.

This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in h event of an emergency, pandemic, or facility need. All ESH positions are required to work different shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays, and/or overtime as requested. Minimum Qualifications Must possess good public relations, strong interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills.

Valid Virginia Drivers license and good driving record.

Experience in preparing reports and investigation techniques.

Experience in handling difficult individuals and be able to physically control, confine, restrain, and arrest in difficult situations.

Experience conducting foot and vehicle patrol.

Experience utilizing computers.

Must have the ability to complete Special Conservator of the Peace training and obtain certification.

Experience in law enforcement, security, or related fields and positions meeting and dealing with the general public as a supplier for services. Preferred Qualifications Certification as a Special Conservator of the Peace.
