We’re hiring a Food Security Coordinator who will serve our Community Outreach team in coordinating direct service ministry activities. This person will recruit, train and retain volunteers; assist with planning and organizing various events and program development; and serve on the front line, directly engaging and ministering to the program participants.

What you’ll do:

Direct Service and Coordination of Food Insecurity Programs:

• Work closely with volunteers who assist with food deliveries and retail food pickups. Help coordinate schedules and answer questions if a key volunteer is not assigned 
• Assist with all pantry outreach details, set-up, purchasing, equipment concerns, scheduling maintenance checks, plus recruitment of volunteers, ministering to community
• Weekly food ordering from Mid-Ohio food collective inventory
• Develop the Key Leadership Volunteer Team, working with the community outreach team to coordinate meetings that provide additional trainings and discipleship opportunities
• Assist the pastor with developing strategies that create a more holistic food pantry program
• Problem solve ministry issues at Northside food pantry and with the Mobile food pantry outreaches
• Update written communication for guests and volunteers
• Help guests in making pantry appointments and matching Mid-Ohio appointments 
• Update Mid-Ohio food collective when outreach changes occur
• Place monthly diaper order and pick up coordination with key volunteers
• Work with other agencies for food pickups and other donations (Food Rescue-Book Donations)
• Quarterly Registration Team schedule, recruitment and retaining a working registration team
• Coordinate the proper documentation for people in need of community service hours
• Assist the pastor with educating the larger congregation about the effects of poverty, food insecurity and homelessness
• Manage Westerville Campus Mobile Food Pantry monthly outreach; promote, recruit and train volunteers to run the monthly outreach during the Mobile food pantry season 
• Coordinate with campus representatives to arrange details of the monthly outreach and provide technical assistance during the Mobile Food Pantry season
• Coordinate with key leaders to train qualified mobile food pantry drivers 

Administrative Support:

• Food Pantry Building liaison between VCC facilities manager, VCC IT department, VCC Communications team
• Communicate building cleaning needs and adjustments to the contracted cleaning company
• Monthly Mid-Ohio food pantry and retail reports
• Provide monthly Outreach Statistics to the community outreach (CO) administrative assistant
• Manage credit card receipts for monthly CC reconciliation
• Code all food pantry invoices for processing
• Work with the CO administrative assistant to set up badge access for staff and volunteer food pantry entry
• Provide phone and email support for food pantry guests and potential volunteers 
• Manage food donations transporting from Westerville Campus to the food pantry 
• Manage VC Serve details 
• Update ministry calendar 
• Collaborate with Community Outreach team

What you bring: 

• High School Diploma or GED 
• Degree and/or the following years of experience in human services, food industry, or related fields

• A combination of at least two of the following is preferred: 
  • 2-4 years’ experience working with people.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working in the food industry.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working with issues of poverty, food insecurity, and/or homelessness.
• Comfortable and competent facilitating and public speaking
• Intermediate knowledge of office technology tools including web-based, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Publisher
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and highly detailed oriented 
• Ability to relate to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds.
• Flexibility to work the program’s schedule *
• Ability and/or experience in recruiting volunteers 
• Commitment to the learning process; open to change and seeks opportunities for spiritual, personal, and professional growth
• Must be able to legally and safely operate cargo vans, pick-up trucks, and trailers

*Work Schedule may vary with primary work occurring Tuesday-Saturday with Sunday and Monday off. Working an occasional Sunday may occur.
